PINK

Got the pink foam board for the sub-roadbed for the Greater Nickel Plate. Is "Liquid Nails" the best way to adhere it to the wood benchwork and to itself for "sculpting" various levels? Also, what is the best way to support the Tortise switch machines for the 2 or 3 switches that cannot be installed as ground throws?

Solution For Non-Flickering Lights

Hi, Jack from Star, Idaho.  Awhile back I submitted a blog for non.flickering lights.  Here is the solution that worked great!  I used a device called a "constant voltage source."  The item is a LM334Z three leg device that is tiny and will fit into any car or engine easily.  I purchase it from "Electronic goldmine" for a cost of $.79 each.  I found this can work from 12-20 volts and control lights or a sound only decoder.   I have not tried it yet with sound and motor control however, it should work.

Ghost River Update & Pictures 2012

Guess I'm a bit over due for an update on the happenings around Ghost River.

Lots of progress has been made in the motive power department and in the scenery department. I received my decals from Rail Graphics last week and now have decals on all of my Ghost River steamers. Rolling stock is next. I've also just finished my two truck MDC Shay after working on it for the past year. It runs very well and is quite quiet for an MDC. Here's a picture of the little gaffer pulling into Camp 1 on my upper level.

Beware Of This Supplier

Hi Jack from Star, Idaho.  I would normally not say anything about a supplier that I have had difficulty with but this is one that I have to pass on.  The name of the web site is "Rodney's Railroad Tools."

Walthers double track truss bridge

Wonder if any one has built this kit offset or skewed for lack of a better term.....does the bent on the bottom edge of the bridge go off at a 30 degree angle to the bridge pier or does it bend to match all the other bents on the bottom o0f bridge.....if someone could direct me to proto photos it sure would help....I know I've seem them but they seem to disappear when you need them!    Thanks....Old Conductor

Alcove Expansion - Part 3: Upper Level Mainline Track Sub-roadbed

Here's the latest progress on the work in the alcove that shows the lower level mainline and tunnels in place (yes, there are access hatches) and the start of the upper level sub-roadbed.  The curve at the left of the picture is 42" radius and the curves near the back 30" and 36" radius.

MRC Diesel Sound Only Decoders

Hi Jack from Star, Idaho.  I have five dummy BNSF HO prime movers that I installed MRC sound only decoders in and I want to make some changes such as volume levels etc but for the life of me I can not find my manual that shows the CV values.  Is there anyone out there that has a manual or tell me where to find one?  I checked MRC's web page but had no luck in finding one...

BQR Deseronto Yard Layout Firming

The jello that is the yard layout for Deseronto is stiffening. Track for passenger service (under the shelf for the upper level) and the yard ladder has been finalized and spiked/glued in place. Access to the service areas and industry tracks (back left corner) have firmed up considerably. There have been many iterations of this layout/review/rethink design process.
