Input requested from builders of foam board benchwork

I am examining the use of foam board in benchwork. This module is nominally 24” x 72” x 5” with a 72” center span and 24” cross members on 18” centers.

The boards are 2 x 3/16” laminated with Gorilla Wood glue (because that’s what I have).

Top will be 3 x 3/16” foam board.

Equipment is Bachmann On30.

Make A Better Looking Model Railroad with Fascia Panels

Today we are installing fascia panels on my model railroad layout! Fascia Panels are a great way to give your model train layout a cleaner and more finished look!

New Layout

Recently moved house and constucting another layout (smaller). Using a plywood base I wish to reduce the noise level produced by the rolling stock. I have a quantity of Hugger carpet tiles 500 x 500 mmr, very close knit weave. After a trial noise levels were reduced to my satisfaction. My question, "can I lay the track onto the carpet pile or if not onto the underside which is rubber. The visual effect with carpet pile is very pleasing and easy to clean.

Dremel Question (Corded, not Cordless)

Hi,

I have a question about two Dremel tools, both corded...  Listed in the latest Micro Mark catalog are two choices:

- The Micro Rotary tool (20 watts, 6 oz weight)

- The Mini Rotary Tool (35 watts, 8 oz weight)

Does anyone have either of these tools, and if so, can you offer an opinion?

The Shortest (Model) Run-around...?

Dear MRHers,

OK, here's one for the "can conceptualise in isolation" layout designer, trackplanner,
and specifically the "trackplanning for operations" modellers...

Roadbed and a Name Change

I've had some free time over the past couple weekends and made some progress on the layout. The foam is in it's basic shape, glued, and painted. Today I was able to get the roadbed glued down for the main and runaround as well as the transitions to the spurs. I just need to get the transitions sanded and paint the roadbed and then I will be ready to lay track!
