I had added the fascia and plexiglass in advance of our grandchildren visiting from Edmonton. The added protection was wonderful, not a single car or building disrupted. Allowing for several enjoyable running sessions with my 4 y/o grandson.

This week I began connecting the wiring for the turnouts and programming track onto the control panel. I designed the schematic on Microsoft Publisher, which allowed me to place the location of the switches before mounting them to the facia and include the total Standard Car Lengths (SCL) that will fit on each siding and run-around track.

IMG_5442.jpg The control panel and programming track are located next to the Digitrax DCS 51 Command and Control Station, providing easy access for programming non-sound decoders. Directly below the panel is the PR4 USB to LocoNet Interface with Decoder Programmer for sound decoders.

IMG_5444.jpg Connecting the wires was easy, having numbered each of the turnout wires when I connected them to the switches. Now I know their are some that will "bash" the Atlas turnout switches, but before you do, please realize, despite their appearance, they work, their inexpensive to buy used and with over 100 turnouts on my layout, it becomes much easier to justify the expense and remain married.

The parallel switches on the outsides of the control panel control crossovers on the mainline. The crossover on the right is also part of the control area for the Covipan Intermodal Yard and can be activated from both control panels.
