Getting Real: Unconventional methods that work

Couple more days of progress

Building continues.  Roadbed down.  Dug the turntable pit.  Started to carve the river bank.  Started cutting chunks for the vertical scenery.

And, oh yeah, added 1x2's to all sides of the door to ensure that the layout area meets the minimum space needed for the NMRA Scenery AP certificate.

Alternatives to Plywood

I was searching through the posts for less expense alternatives to plywood.  We all know that cost of plywood has sky rocketed so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any photos or videos of alternatives would be helpful as well.

Thanks. . .

Paint for shelf layout legs?

Hey guys, I ordered some benchwork from an online retailer on here ( Sievers ). I want to paint the legs black. I’m not sure what type of paint to use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank,

Detroit Windsor Connecting Railroad Virtual Video Tour

Hello Everyone, here is a video tour of The Detroit Windsor Connecting Railroad.  I have been working on this layout for a few years now.   The layout is in my basement approximately 24 by 30 feet.  It is 1/29th scale G gauge.  Take a look and I'll be posting more specifics in future about the different areas I am working on.

Price of lumber

My other hobby is investing and economics, so I've been reading about the high price of lumber and plywood.

Perhaps what I've learned will be useful to some of you. Not that you can't learn it by reading the same stuff, but I suspect having a short summary here will be thought useful by some.
