Building continues.  Roadbed down.  Dug the turntable pit.  Started to carve the river bank.  Started cutting chunks for the vertical scenery.

And, oh yeah, added 1x2's to all sides of the door to ensure that the layout area meets the minimum space needed for the NMRA Scenery AP certificate.

By the way, it is always a good idea to keep searching Amazon, eBay, etc. for stuff you might need sometime in the future.  A couple years back I just happened to find a case of roadbed on Amazon for just $9!  Didn't know then what I might need it for, but it was ready and waiting for me this week!

Cork and Foam

With the roadbed down, it’s starting to look like a railroad! I’m enjoying watching your progress because it reminds me of my little round N scale railroad… which is still mostly cork upon a pink bed (It’s been a decade since I’ve built anything train related, and that was in a scale almost twice as big— progress is going slowly).

Regarding roadbed for future use: I, too, have a box of cork in storage. I bought it because I was certain I’d need it. I later decided it to be too tall.

A small layout in 1:160 is better than large layout in my head.
