Question brake details of B&O M-53

I would like to ask you about a detail of a brake detail on a B&O M-53 which exist on other more modern freight cars also, I think.

Please open this link - https://www.pwrs.ca/new_announcement_images/products/Fox_Valley/Cars/Prototype.jpg

What is that for a part under the right end of lower door guide which is mounted under the car body.
I would be lucky to get your helpful information. Thanks!

Wheeling & Lake Erie / Pittsburgh & West Virginia System Map

Good News Everyone!

For those of you interested in the original Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway as well as its smaller Alphabet-Route partner, the Pittsburgh & West Virginia, I've created a sort-of all-time map of both roads and their routes that existed. I've embedded the map into this post for others to see and view but am also looking for people to help make this map better and more detailed information-wise than I could make on my own.

Lovely day on the Milan branch

Yesterday I met a retired IAIS engineer, Jay Ellis. Jay worked for the IAIS since it’s inception and had a railroad career that spanned over 40 years. Amazing! He worked for the Rock Island, CNW, and finally the Iowa Interstate.

But what was even more interesting to me was that Jay held the engineer spot on the Milan branch for many years, including the year I model the branch – 2003. We spent a very enjoyable day talking all things Milan, toured the branch, enjoyed lunch, and forged a new friendship.

Interesting flat car load

Was Google surfing around Hugoton, KS this morning.  Noted this interesting pair of dedicated flatcars.  The large containers say "Haliburton" so I wonder if they're oil drilling "mud" transporters.

In the same town at that time was a privately owned (SFGX) GP7 loco and slug on a grain siding.

Lots happening on the Office Park zone

The last several days have quite productive. Benchwork is up on the wall, I've started setting up OperationsPro, and I was able to get to Dallas a day of prototype research.

Benchwork

The hollow core doors have a 3/4" layer of foam on top, and a few tweaks to the front shelf. I picked up some shelf brackets for the office wall and got them mounted.

Union Pacific from Las Vegas to Yermo California

Hello, I'm new here, it looks like this is the place to be. There is lots of info on this forum!

I currently building a triple deck HO scale layout, based on Union Pacific's line from Las Vegas to Yermo Californa. Just wondering if anyone knows the name of that subdivision?

Thank you in advance!

Mike.

Front End Loader for scrap yard

Does anyone have a suggestion on what front end loader I can use for my 1980 scrap yard?  I've found quite a few HO scale models of front end loaders but many of them look too modern and most of them don't give the year of the model.  I hate that when manufactures or ebay listing don't give the year a vehicle was made.  Thanks for any help.
