N Scale BQ23-7
I have always had a soft spot for SCL's BQ23-7's, since I have learnt how to draw to produce 3D printed objects this was one project that had been on the bucket list for a long time.
First task was to assemble everything I needed, an Atlas B23-7, a set of Blomberg truck frames from Atlas, decals and paint for CSX.
I dismantled the locomotive and measured up and drew up the cab in Sketchup.

Panic on the railroad in 1/4 scale
One thing about working with grand scale trains is experiencing problems that never happen in HO or N in your basement or spare room. At least I hope no one here has ever caught a 140' wood trestle on fire!

Sad News
Sad news today from several sources close to him, that renowned Australian modeler Geoff Nott has passed away. Truly one of the great masters of model scenery. His beautiful Leigh Creek Lumber Company layout (GMR 2000) and Muskrat Ramble layout which is now on display at the Suncoast Center for Fine Scale Modeling, in Odessa, FL. has been a source of inspiration for me and countless others. His fine work will be missed. Condolences to all who knew him personally.

Chronicles of a Broke Model Railroader
I'm Jim, and as the title says, I'm broke. I'll spare everyone the details of how I got to this point, but suffice to say I've spent a total of under fifty bucks on the hobby in the last two years. Model railroading can be a very expensive hobby, but I'm working to see how inexpensively it can be done. Luckily, I have acquired a modest stockpile of supplies over the years, so it's now time to burn off some of the fat, so to speak.

C&A Rapid Track Laying (Not)
I haven’t had much time for the Cornhill & Atherton recently, so nothing to report or ask you guys about – funny how life has a habit of getting in the way of your hobby
From Stagnant to Steaming: Revise, Refurbish, Expand & Finish an HO layout
Last month (May), a man contacted me through our shared Local Hobby Shop: He had a 3'x16' HO layout that was half done. He also had grandsons who are 7- and 8-years old and who really wanted to run trains with Grandpa.
The challenge was that, ever since being diagnosed with cancer a year ago, between the chemo and the medication he just didn't have the energy to continue work on the layout. So he needed a strapping young man with the muscles and know-how to get the layout done and running well.

Welcome to Portage,Wisconsin!
Portage is the western staging terminus (semi-hidden) on my Milwaukee Road - Old Line.
The four stub-ended staging tracks are two each at 140" and 150" in length. The staging lead is a 2.5% grade up to the interchange with the main layout.
