Micro-Mark's MicroLux paints

I see that one of MRH sponsors has a paint that is supposed to exactly match the Polyscale paints. Anyone have any experience with it?

ATSF Paradigm Division (N-scale) - Staging Yards

Now that my wife and I have finished our summer project of rebuilding the shower, I can now refocus my effort back to the new layout.

The first picture shows a partial view down the peninsula of both staging yards (A & B).  The scale drawing that was shown in the previous blog post documents (as close as possible) what was built since I obtained the Railmodeller software after the track was put down.

Free_Mo_N in Chehalis

Man, how time flies!  I have been busy over the summer with the shelf layout contest build, and haven't really done much with the FreeMo modules.  We had our setup at the Lewis County Train Show and Swap Meet this past weekend.  This was our first public setup and it was a LOT of fun and generated quite a bit of interest from the people coming in to see the trains.  We were allotted a 10' x 25' area to set up in.  It was a bit cramped for the assortment of modules we had attending, but I think we made good use of the space.

Inspiration, introduction & monday night mail train

For any one interested in reading my little news letter "The Monday Night Mail Train" it should be attached to this post for a short while.

splitrock323's comment on my last post has inspired me to try to share information about my layout and its operating system.

Firstly I am a 69 year old retired ice manufacturer and live in South Australia with my wife and two Jack Russel terriers. We have two grown children and two grandsons.

ATSF Paradigm Division is born

Earlier this year after I finished the second spline helix, I began to re-look the design of my new layout. The new layout would be the replacement for the dismantled ATSF Fillmore Division which had been built in a large room in my house before family members moved back thus requiring the reallocation of the room back to living space. The previous layout was a modified N-scale version of Bruce Chubb's original Sunset Valley RR.

Richlawn RR V2 - Rolling Work Desk Recycle

As I start to get serious about constructing the railroad it became painfully apparent that I needed a work surface other than my benchwork top.  I've been constantly moving things around on the top of the benchwork and everything is always in the wrong place and always needed to be moved.  I had a nice 30" x 6' work table for my previous layout and certainly don't have the room for it in my 10' x 12' layout room / office.

Cornhill & Atherton Engine House

I am supposed to be working on the mountain behind the Engine Terminal which tops the Helix, but I got a bit distracted (it's not a crime). So here is my first ("semi serious") attempt at a structure.

Origins are an eBay purchased; Muir Models vintage kit.
As far as kit contents and instructions go, we are in "box of sticks and a vague clue"  territory, but I see this as an advantage. I've come close to scratch building the whole thing so, my confidence levels for future kit bash/scratch build have gone up considerably.

Progress on the new "Black and Blue"

After a bit of planning with SCARM plus some kicking around of ideas with members here  in my blog and a bit of fairly simple bench work  construction, I now have some progress to show on the "Blackwater and Blue Hollow Short Line" or as it's affectionately known around these parts... "The Old Black n Blue"
