Tree line....
Hi all,
well with the Mrs. in Italy visiting her dad who is not doing well, I had to do some thing to not start turning in circles with the Christmas spirit and such.
So I decided to re do some of the tree line. You all might remember this...
but when ever I entered the layout room I was like "pffffffft" not really what I was after when I was doing this tree nursery.
My layout tour
In between late night feelings and diaper changes with my new son, I edited together a short layout tour video of my Tidewater Southern layout. Gotta love the portability of my iPad! This is a warts and all look at the progress I've made...not meant to look pretty.
Two itms to discuss. Suydam kits and free-standing supports for double deck contstruction.
I have constructed several Suydam cardboard kits with success by painting, adding additional interior support and sometimes adding windows and door from other kits.
Does anyone have any good ways to make support legs for double deck construction that are frestanding?
best program for drawing your layout, opinions?
i have seen a lot of people use different programs to illustrate their layout, what do you think is best
Shipping rail
I got this nice little drawing from my father-in-law in the mail the other day.
Many years ago he worked at Algoma Steel and this is his sketch on how they loaded rail.
I hope sharing this is of some interest for those who model flat loads.
cleaning brass models
What is the best way to clean a brass caboose model. Was there a forum on this before?

Unitrack
Renewing a long neglected N layout and have an interest in Kato unitrack.Have purchased some No 6 turnouts and very pleased with them.Have seen some negative comments about their No 4 turnouts.Before I make the move to get the No4 would anyone please comment on their experience with them? Thanks
need coupler help
Oh great train gods, please solve my problem
Oh i have a bunch of older con-cor UP passenger cars with truck mounted hook horn couplers and i want to change them over, probably to body mount coupler boxes but new trucks could be an option. Any ideas on brands/item numbers i can use to do this.
