Modeling general discussion

rail/marine, N scale

Does anyone have plans or models for N scale car float. I am aware that Walters has it in HO, but  was wondering about N. Could use some information on tugs also.

Thanks

Lee

Switching Layout

I'm already bored with my existing layout and want to build another one. My problem is that I'm out of room and the wife won't concede on giving me another room. So I thought a small switching layout would be nice. I have several questions but first is that since the tracks don't complete a circle, how is it powered? I run DCC on my other one, can I still power a switching layout the same way?

Thanks-Tim

Trying to achieve this look

I'm trying to match this colour of mud/dirt and look on this track. Any ideas, suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.

References

Good morning everyone. What is/are the must have references for rolling stock? I am looking to identify pieces and need the best references. Thanks a lot, and keep tracking.

Possible visitors to my layout next week after the Proto Rails Convention

I know that a number of you have said that you will be attending the Proto Rails Convention in Cocoa Beach, Fl next Thursday (1/9) through Saturday (1/11).  Some have expressed interest in possibly visiting my layout on Sunday 1/12.  First of all, everybody is welcome to visit me Sunday afternoon.  If you intent to visit me please feel free to email me by clicking on my user name and then "Contact".  Of course you can also get with me during the convention to let me know.

Photo Backdrop - N scale - need higher than normal

I have a double decked layout, bottom one is an extended long yard, upper level will be a city, ala Rod Stewart style set in today's time (modern).  I've been to a number of photo backdrop locations and there are cities available but here is my problem.

New member, layout tour.

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but here goes.  I joined a couple of weeks ago, as I really like the magazine.  Great topics, ideas, and methods.

I live in SE. WI.  I'm a retired cement finisher, so now I have the time for my trains!

The link below is a tour of my small, "L" shaped, "dog bone" layout, starting from the right to left.  I use DC and a Digitrax Super Empire Builder DCC.  NEVER both at the same time.

Found this Portable spray booth, does anyone have one?

Have a workshop, just cannot justify heating the shop just to spray paint in the winter. My layout is in my basement as I will just be using acrylic paints, thought this would be a good purchase for down there inHO.

The Hobo Proletariat Blog

Just throwing this out there for interested persons. I've started a blog (not on here) to chronicle my rail travel experiences. I'm angling for something a bit different than the usual rail fan stuff. Here's a link to the latest article I did, this one is on the trams in Prague.
