Modeling general discussion
Yes it's a model banners
This website, and some of it's associated newsletters I receive are adorned with a banner at the top, often showing a nice bit of modeling, under the banner 'yes it's a model'.
There's one particular one I've always liked, but it hasn't 'popped up' for a while (despite several page refreshes).
It shows a heavily weathered red non dynamic road switcher (looks like a GP40 or similar), long hood forward, pulling (or pushing) a hopper into the woods on a rural setting and just on the grade crossing.
Cutting zamac or other die-cast stuff
What's the right tool for cutting zamac or other die-cast materials? I just rather laboriously used a razor saw to cut pieces off of an Athearn blue box frame. Not only was it a pretty fair amount of work but it seems to have pretty much used up the blade in the process. Yet it was only about 3/16" square, several times.
I guess I could have used a cutoff disk in a Dremel, although I'm not keen on that as I don't like the consequences of breaking one of the disks.
Just Read Live Steam Comments
Greetings! Registered in response to what seems to be real interest in live steam. I can contribute quite a story regarding one of the more famous CB&Q steam excursions in which a giant Texas loco broke down enroute.
That excursion dwelt in my mind my entire life, the desire lingering to build a replica of the CBQ engine which saved the day.
Anyone interested in this? Thanks! burlington 5632

I have not seen this here on MRH. Rod Stewart went to Sellios's layout in Peabody Ma.

Animation Possibilities
OK, say it... I live under a rock. I know robots are popular DIY projects nowadays but other than seeing them on television I never gave them much thought. Today I stumbled across a web page that captured my attention for a long time. Not so much for robots but thinking about animation on a model railroad. Holy smokes, they have everything you would ever need regardless of what animation application you dream up.

Which photo editing software?
I am going to have to make my own decals for the Cleveland Cliffs lake freighter I am building for my layout. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what software to use to do this? Photo editing? I have never done this before.
