I left some for you.

Wandering hopper cars (and others)

How far from home rails would a hopper car likely to be found?  My North Central in Maine has no local coal, yet will need it, both for its own locomotives and for various on-line customers.  Would it  ride in cars belonging to railroads in Pennsylvania and West Virginia?

Cars like boxcars and flats can move anywhere, and that will influence my rolling stock roster, but I suspect I'd only see the hoppers from one or two lines at most--is this right?

Weekend Photo Fun 11-29 to 12-1

Post your recent model train photo's and layout projects here. All scales welcome!

Photos of the Illinois Division of the SSW

Happy Holidays and welcome to my Illinois Division of the St. Louis Southwestern.  The layout is based in the late 60’s to early 70’s and runs from the fictional town of Marysville, IL (Paris, IL) southwest to E. St. Louis.

This is a photo of Bud Yard which is the main yard that is located in Marysville.  This yard servers all the local industries and is an interchange point with the PC.

Renaming my Railroad

In the process of designing a paint-scheme for my freelanced road - tentatively known as the Charleston, Norfolk, Cincinnati and Ohio Railroad - I realized that while the name works well for a late 1800's/early 1900's setting, it seemed out of place for my late 1980's era.

I was thinking that the name should probably have shortened form like the Milwaukee, Monon or Rock Island had, but I'm not sure what a good 'nickname' would be

RS-11 now has sound

I commissioned a mate in South Australia to add sound to my Atlas/Kato RS-11.

He installed Loksound, using the 12 cylinder engine which is correct for the prototype. He also printed up number boards, fixed the fixed the electrical pickups and fixed the lights.

The loco now performs flawlessly and sounds great.

Here it is hauling some freight on speed step 3/128

I just told Blip that I'm unhappy with them!

I just sent opened a support ticket with Blip to tell them that I am unhappy about the way that they deleted the videos from MRH without first contacting them. I also advised them that I intent to put a posting on the home page of my web site advising about their behavior. I've had over 232,000 hits on my website thus far and hope that many people see the post. If you're unhappy with Blip's behavior I'd encourage you to let them know. Now, back to model railroading..........
