How does your NMRA Division operate
Hello,
I'm having a pretty nasty fallout with the NMRA currently and was just curious if there are other divisions with similar practice as the Allegheny Plateau Division (APD) of the Mid Central Region. The county I reside is/was looking to be moved from the Niagara Frontier Region to the Mid Central Region. Up until 5 years I had attended meetings with the members of the APD but was a victim of the fallout of the great insurance crisis.
I'm searching for train stores on a trip, plus willing to take pictures of things for people
I am going to be traveling from east coast Florida up to New England, and would like to stop at any really good train stores. Specifically, ones that often have some good used or new old stock, really good prices, or other unique stuff. (Little detail parts are also a good thing.) My railroading specialty is Northeast New England--Maine, NH, and NE Massachusetts in the 1920's. ANYWHERE that's known to have HOn30 would be wonderful.

Latest video- gravel roads and lots with budget supplies
I thought some might enjoy our latest video. Making gravel roads and lots with budget scenery materials.
Enjoy and (or) discuss techniques. Thanks, joey
How would coal get moved to small dealerships, mid 1920's--trying to decide what road name hoppers I need
I see lots of places that would receive as carload of coal now and then--small town coal dealerships and the like. Would a small town dealership in New Hampshire and Massachusetts recieve a car directly from the coal fields--and thus, in a Pennsylvania Railroad, or B&O, or other car for that area?
Backdrop Photo
Trying my hand at designing my own backdrop using GIMP, a free downloadable software program similar to Photoshop.
I think I may have messed up my layering, as the sky tone goes from a nice soft blue on the right to purple on the left.
Anyone else out there using GIMP know what is going on? I can't find anything in tutorials to help, though I suspect it's some feature or function of the layering, as I am adding each image a a layer.
Grout safety
I've seen a few folks mention using grout for ground cover for both its colors and texture, but when I looked at some in my Home Cheapo the warning label about inhalation hazards stopped me from going further. Any thoughts from those using this stuff on layouts on how to do so safely, or am I over reacting?
Weird Hobby Injuries. (Track cuts)
Managed to slice up my index finger and thumb tips on ME C55 ties tonight. As I worked the track into shape to match a curve, I ran my finger and thumb along the edge of the flex track. This was the result.
Not terribly long, but surprisingly deep. And because the track was weathered I had to do some cleaning out.
Help finding layout article.
Members.
I believe it was in the 70s or 80s when I came across an article in either MR or RMC that was written and photographed on a model railroader's layout. I have been searching for it for a couple of years now, but, to no avail.

Favorite soldering products
With all the various types/brands of solder, flux and cleaning products available, what are peoples favorite brands of each? Please discuss but differentiate between soldering track and electrical connections from soldering brass models and locomotives. Or any other situation in which you had to resort to solder...
If you want to include comments on specific soldering tools you have come to know and love, please add commentary on this too. I have a resistance soldering unit I have yet to learn how to use correctly so...
