I would like to thank everyone in the model railroad hobby for their expressions on how good the line of

A Rubber Gauger Come Home

Hi All:

A new forum member here.

Confession: I've been a rubber gauger for at least the last 15-20 years of my life time with trains. Experiments (some extensive, all expensive!) included:

* G scale

* Sn3

* O scale 3-rail traditional

* O scale Hi-Rail

* S scale (standard gauge).

Exactrail Customer Service. . .

I wanted to say how pleased I am with Exactrail's customer service. . .

I recently ordered an SP freight/box car from Exactrail.  When I received the car, the weight was lose and shifting around inside of the car.  Since the body is sealed to the frame, it would have taken some effort to secure the weight.

I contacted Exactrail's customer service via email; they promptly responded and sent a new car out and provided a shipping label to return the original car.

The 38th Annual Galesburg Railroad Days

Hey guys, if anyone is in the area this weekend, or even if you're not, Galesburg Illinois is celebrating their railroad heritage this coming weekend! Lots of things to see and do including railfanning and tours at the BNSF Galesburg classification yard and loco shops.

And yes, there is a train show and swap meet as well at the Carl Sandburg College Saturday and Sunday. I'll be working with our club The Great River Railway Club located out of Burlington Iowa most of the weekend. Stop in and say hi!

Rusty Rails Painter: Which paint do you use?

I'm about to start painting the sides of my rail and I'm going to use a Rusty Rails Painter to do it.

My question for those who have used the RR Painter with success is:  Which paint did you use?  The paint that Joe's Model Trains sells for use with the RR Painter?  Hobby paints like Model Master or Accu-Paint?  Acrylic craft paint?

Did you thin the paint and, if so, with what and how much?

Any suggestions or tips on how best to use the RR Painter?

Thanks for any help,

Jeff

-manual turnout article-anyone recall this?

I can remember an article in Model Railroader, do not recall name or author, had to be between years of 2005-2007, that was a hot-to article on building a very simple manual turnout. I actually built a few of these on a small N-scale layout I helped my nephew build. Here is what I remember:

I missed this

I have been away for a while, a few months, but I missed being here, reading and occasionally posting and replying. I am hoping to get inspiration from ya'll again. I want to do SOMETHING! Build a model, install a decoder, build a turnout... ANYTHING! I know this is the place for inspiration!
