How about a upgraded SW1500
Would anyone out there be interested in a updated or new release of a SW1500/1000? An Athearn Genesis or Scale Trains version? Scale Trains keeps hinting at a four axle unit........The Athearn units are nice, but are getting scarce. There were over 800 SW1500 prototypes built, many are still running. I have been noticing many more switching layouts being built, they are an excellent unit for that as well as short lines. They were also among the last switchers most of the Class 1’s purchase. Just want to see if there’s any interest out there.
Weathering vs graffiti
OK, so I'm an old guy! I think any train on the mainline HAS to have a caboose. I like my stuff to look as close to prototype as possible so I weather everything from engines to rolling stock to structures and vehicles, even figures!
How do you feel about graffiti? Is that "weathering" or pure vandalism? You know how I feel. While it can be very creative I just hate seeing perfectly good things with all that often vulgar, stuff all over it.

Back to US Outline N Scale after a sojourn with Marklin HO
Hi there. Having publicised my Marklin layout over the last year or so, I thought that I would start a thread about my return to US Outline N Scale. The full story of this is now on my model railway blog at http://www.gmrblog.co.uk.
If you are interested - the blog goes back to 2009 and covers my many attempts at model railways encompassing US HO, US N Scale, UK OO, UK N Gauge and OOn3.

It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em. There were a few late-comers in last week's post. Check them out, then come back here afterward.
IC # 3715 at the Monticello Railway Museum railroad
A close friend has done many steam locomotive modifications for my Illinois Central themed, museum railroad.
Attached are some photos of the latest locomotive which started life as a Bachmann 2-6-0 but now is IC, #3715.
Enjoy,

Narrow Gauge Degrees of Curvature
I'm in the design stages of track plans for either an Sn3; or, On30 layout. I plan to lay all track, for whichever scale I decide to go with. The NMRA gives some information on track radius, although the information given is for 4 feet 8 and 1/2 inch standard gauge. NMRA RP-11, in their Track Dimension Table on page three, Gives some Degrees of Curvature for curves for all scales. I'm interested in designing a layout that could be used for either On30; or, Sn3. I think that a 30 inch radius might work for either scale. In O scale a 30 inch ra

Semi truck cattle trailer
I am trying to locate a HO scale semi truck cattle trailer but have been unsuccessful. Has anyone ever seen one and if so, who was the manufacturer? I would like for for my stockyard.

Building your Own Turntable
I've been making some repairs to my 'estate acquired' Diamond Scale turntable, and in doing so I needed to build a whole new turntable pit. I will be covering that shortly, or in another subject thread.
But in the meantime I have realized a mistake I made long ago when I was building my first turntable for my Central Midland layout, so I thought I would start this subject thread out with that bit of knowledge that I think MANY of us first assume when we look at such a project.
