Modeling general discussion

Can Anyone Identify This Article By Bob Smaus?
Anybody know what publication this was in? I'd love to track it down so I can get the whole article on The Patch, Santa Fe's historic industrial trackage in downtown LA. I've looked through the List of published articles and nothing seems to be this one. Thanks!
Prices in the "good old days"
Seems like every now and then someone makes references to the cost of hobby items now, compared to when they started out years ago.
Here is a link that will help to put things in perspective:

A model boxcar costing $27 today would be
- $20.57 in 2005
- $16.05 in 1995
- $5.67 in 1975
Does that help?
Somewhere in between
It seems to me there is a really odd lack of high quality, detailed, out of the box rolling stock. Like, you can get athern - is not BAD per se, with a little work can be real nice. but then it seems to make this huge jump to like F&C and westerfield. Does no one make highly detailed, but ready out of the box rolling stock? With wire grabs and such? it seems like there's just a huge split.
If you didn't mind the price, who makes really great, highly detailed, out of the box stuff?

opinions on remote operation
some layouts are having remote operating sessions.
loco control can be accomplished using phones connected to a JMRI server connected to the layout
there are several possibilities for operators monitoring their trains as well as signals thru some web interface with varying bandwidth (guesstimates):

Weekly Photo Fun - May 17-23, 2020
It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em. There were a few late-comers in last week's post. Check them out, then come back here afterward.

Tips and techniques.
Do we have a thread sharing tips and techniques we all discover while modeling. If we do, please point me to it. If not, maybe we could start one.
Testors Dullcote vs Krylon color max clear FLAT not MATTE
I know that there has been much mentioned of this But I am not sure Krylon Colormaxx clear "FLAT KRYSTAL CLEAR" was mentioned, (non yellowing by the way) I recall the "Matte" Krylon being mentioned in thread as " as closest to Testors"...……....HOWEVER today I purchased 11oz of the Krylon Flat at Lowes...$3.98 (11 oz) just for the heck of it.

The coolest addition for your crew lounge
Wow !!!
I am geeking out over this. It never occurred to me that a crew room would have such decorations ! I am not sure which colors would be prototypical. I know the gray one would work, but I guess the giant hole in the roof isn't prototype either, so...
