Mixed eras

how many layouts on here have mixed eras?

I had an idea of having ww2 equipment on the layout but with railroad equipment from the 80s mainly so I have an environment I can display my 1/72 scale German trucks and armored cars

i have more than i know.

well while dig/cleaning up.

i have found out i own 5 dremel moto tools.

two are very old school,

one of must be a good 40 years old. and it still works. ( model # 245-5).

it is tiny next to the three newer units i have.

question? how many of these ( other brands chime in also) dose every body else own?

Do not Hump decal

First Revenue Trip SP 9807 ***fixed***

This old (bought when the prototype was new, about 1996) Athearn Genesis finally got its decoder, LEDs, grabirons, and decals and is now on my Southwestern Pacific's Pig Train.  It is running with a patched Athearn SD-70 so of course I buried it in the rear.

These photos are from my iPhone so somewhat limited in depth of field.  Both are along the Cascade River.

Slab side covered hoppers

Recently someone posted that they were looking for slab side covered hoppers. Well Atlas has announced a new model in HO, a slab side covered hopper, some are suggesting that Atlas purchased the True Line model. The True Line models were very nice cars.

Reviewing old, old posts, whether here or elsewhere

I've noticed on a number of different forms at various sites that there is a tendency for some readers to do a search on a topic, find an old thread, and then resurrect it with a new comment.  Sometimes, especially where the original topic was dealing with ageless stuff like prototype operations, prototype equipment, or even benchwork or model operating system approaches, it's great to see these things resurface.  It's like wandering in the woods and finding a shiny coin or a historical marker you had no idea existed.

How to Contact Peco by Email?

I have now tried to send an email question to Peco twice to 2 different addresses they listed on the internet,...both have been unsuccessful.

Does anyone know how to contact them via email??

...this was the message I was trying to send

I am building a new double deck layout that will be utilizing over 100 turnouts, and I have chosen to use Pecos

Fast cookie-cutter cuts for benchwork

Hi all,

I'm curious whether folks have any tricks for doing freeform cuts for plywood subroadbed. Historically, I have done the cuts with an old jigsaw which looks like this, but it's pretty slow, and I get all jiggled up after all the vibration from the saw ...

To Helper Or Not

Hi all,

I am making a substantial layout design choice and would love to hear what you all think:
