Modeling general discussion
Tehachapi TTTO op sessions
TTTO sessions on the Tehachapi Pass layout of the La Mesa Model Railroad Club have been cancelled due to Covid restrictions.
Our layout is housed in the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, which is located in a San Diego city building. Accordingly, club spaces are governed by restrictions imposed by the State, County, and City. Those restrictions presently limit us to 6 persons in the club spaces at any given time.
Utah Belt in N Scale
I was experimenting using AnyRail 6 trying to design an N scale version of the first Utah Belt layout. Has anyone in this group designed an N scale UB? Would like to see for ideas.
Below are photos of what I worked the other night. . .takes some practice laying track over the image but I am finding consistency with the curves. The curves range from 15" to 18" radius so far and the turnouts align with #7 Atlas Turnouts.

Oil tank decals
I just got the Walthers wide oil tank in Ho scale for my Gulf refining industry. But they need to have the Gulf logo on them. Does anyone make Gulf decals for these oil tanks?

Model idea
Here is a modeling idea that is easy and we all have extra rail.
Paints brands and vendors
Hi Folks:
Im looking to purchase some paint for track weathering. I am only interested in waterbased / water cleanup paints. I have been looking at the Vallejos Model Air line, as I have color charts for them. the problem is that I am having a hard time finding a vendor that has them -- According to their brand list, Walthers does not carry them, neither do Traintek, train life, Amain hobbies, hobbylinc etc. I did find a few of them at Model Train Stuff, but the selection is quite limited --
looking for a DCC/sound installer person
Folks,
I am looking for someone to install DCC and sound in this model. I will do all of the finish painting and lettering along with weathering. However, I am not a DCC/sound installer and need someone who knows how to do this right and at a reasonable price.
The model is an Overland brass import that has been fine-tuned to run well (on DC). It also has a few detail changes to match a NYC Lines Michigan Central prototype.

E Bid site
Has anyone had any experiences on this buying/selling site?
I just received a notice about a large estate sale of brass on this site.
Painting Brass
I am planning on painting a few brass GN Passenger cars. Can anyone help me with two different items.
First, preparing the model. I have airbrushed a number of items in the past with great results, but they were mostly plastic. What do i need to do with a "straight out of the box" brass piece to get it ready for painting.
Second, does anyone have the prototype measurements one would use to properly layout the masking for a Great Northern Empire Builder paint scheme?
Thanks in advance.

Simple Speed Question
I have a small flat N layout with clean tracks and have two GP40 locos pulling a 23 car train. The slowest I can go without the locos eventually stalling is 22 sMPH. Is this a typical experience or should I expect to be able to go slower? If I had two larger six axle AC6000 or similar locos would that make a difference and enable me to go slower? Thanks.
Focus Stacking 'on the cheap'
Photographing model layouts is always tricky, especially the long, sweeping views which are problematic due to the limited depth of focus obtainable at close distances under indoor lighting. A good camera that can be 'stopped down' to very small aperture (f22 or better), good lighting and a long exposure can improve the depth of focus. An alternative is 'focus stacking'. This involves taking a number of photographs of the same scene, each focused at a different distance from the camera.
