Pre-sorted Intermodal on CP Rail

I came to a crossing of the CP Rail mainline just north west of Barrie, Ontario, Canada where the line comes down the East side of Georgian Bay from the north, through Sudbury and Thunder Bay and on its way to Brampton and Toronto. I was a good 1 Km away when I say the intermodal cars across the intersection and it took me a minute or so the get to the crossing to wait. I did not see what was heading the freight but it was travelling rather slowly, maybe about 20Km/H.

Amtrak fire

The excitement for the day in Camarillo was a "fire" onboard an Amtrak comuter locomotive.

Actually, it was a lot of billowing smoke from a "runaway HEP (head-end power) unit.  Here's a photo taken by a friend of mine, with his cell phone.  Credit our friends at Ventura County Fire Dept.  (sister agency to the one I work at) for being on the scene Fast!

2nd Post

I'll try this again. My first post for some reason has disappeared.(Perhaps I failed to select a specific forum the first time around?) I've left Model Railroader Magazine forum for Greener pastures. Joe used to post over there several years ago and I was one of his biggest fans. This forum seems light years ahead as far as information and new ideas are concerned. And I figured if Al Mayo hasn't been kicked off this site yet, then it's good enough for me .

In case you're interested

I finally got around to creating a photobucket account http://s898.photobucket.com/home/SPSHASTAROUTE/index

I know Steve and others had asked if I had one, well now I do.  Some of the images have been posted before on my blog or threads, but most haven't been.  Sorry, but I haven't labeled anything yet.  Hope to add more soon.

Wow - good thing the convention was last week

We should probably keep the people of Milwaukee in our thoughts today - they just got hit by torrential rains (7-8" in a day qualifies) and the airport and other areas are currently under water.

I was wondering if any 2000-2008 issues of Railmodel Journal has a Union Pacific Layout tour.
