Modeling general discussion

Selfless Brit dedication to trains.

Just saw this news video. We Brits take our interest in trains very seriously!

Not recommended for US practice, even though the US trains are much slower.

JOE...Where'd your site go?

Joe,

I had your Siskyou site bookmarked and checked it occasionally (even though most of the time I'm over here).  Went today and - oh oh - it's gone?  Such a valuable resource...where has the info gone?

Just curious???  Your sig logo/picture also seems to go nowhere...

Amazon.com sells trains. . .

I was shopping on Amazon.com for something unrelated to trains and did a search on Athearn and a whole bunch of entries came up.  The prices are very competitive with other leading online retailers.  I have not bought anything from Amazon recently but it the mrr items are processed by hobby shops that have contracted with Amazon

Anyone want a FREE book?

Edit:  The book has been claimed.

I recently picked up Bruce Chubb's book, How To Operate Your Model Railroad, on eBay.  The book was described as being in good condition.  The book that arrived had binding that was in really bad shape.  Pages loose all over but still all there.

After contacting the seller a replacement book was shipped.  The binding on the replacement is much better.

Video of a very unusual, but totally prototypical switching move

This is a piece of a longer video I posted back in January.  The interesting part of the video was quite a way in and to see it required sitting through the boring part...

Anyway, here is a shot of pushing a 13 car train through a series of curved #2.5 three way turnouts that wrap around the outside of a round freight house.

Enjoy!

Scratchbuilding a laser cut engine house for the CNJ Bronx Terminal

 Hi,

Last week, with the Doubleheaders Layout Tour approaching, I wanted to add something new to my layout before the weekend tour.

In a flurry of activity (typical of the week before the Doubleheaders Layout Tour) I designed and build an engine house for my CNJ Bronx Terminal.

Litchfield Station Sold

Just received...

We have told folks that the crystal ball was a bit foggy when we were asked where things were going with Litchfield Station, LLC. There has been a lot of speculation on the web and in eMails to us. We have heard:

Great Midwest Train Show?

Has anybody ever been to this train show?  It's in suburban Chicago and they bill it as the "world's largest monthly train show."  I'm wondering if it's worth checking out.  There's not much info on their website and before I drive 3 hours, I wanted to see if any of you guys have gone.  If it's one of those giant flea markets with great deals on "Floppy disks!!!  Desiner perfumes!!!  Ladies' jeans!!! and...TRAIN STUFF!", then I'm gonna pass.

Thanks,

Bill
