Popularity of various scales
Another model railroader and I are teaching a course for the Boy Scouts to help them attain the Railroading merit badge. I am trying to find an up-to-date comparison of the popularity of the various model railroad scales. You know, a chart or listing that says that 68% model in HO, 16% in N scale, and so on. I tried the NMRA with no luck. Any prompt responses with either the information or a link to chase it down would be much appreciated. It's kind of short notice, since I need to present this information next Saturday (January 9), but the other sour
Reality vs. the imagination. . .
Have any of you ever visited a layout and were excited about the visit but when you got there you felt a little let down?
Poor Boys Railroad
Hey everyone. New to the forums. I wanted to bring attention to an amatuer hobbyist in my area that does a huge display every year for Christmas.
Every year in Fort Pierce, FL he opens up his home and property to the public from a few days before Christmas until New Years day.
LIONEL TRACK OXIDATION
I recently bought some Lionel Track and switches that were left outside (not by me) in rainy weather.
The track seems to have little rust but is badly oxidized. I was told sandpaper or emery cloth is the best method for getting the stuff off. If I used metal polish (such as is used for hubcaps, would I be doing damage to the electrical current in the track?
Lionelville DVD
Last night while shopping in our local Wal-Mart we spotted a rather large Lionel display near the jewelry counter. They had many shirts, backpacks (younger age school style), G scale "around the tree" type sets that ran on batteries (included in package) and on one end we spotted the Lionelville Destination: Adventure!

What's your favorite road....and why?
So, what's everyone's favorite road name, and why?
For me, It's CP rail.
Why?
Many reasons.....Where I grew up, CP ran the last few years on the Kettle Valley line, all GP38ac's, and bulk head flats....always loved the multi-mark logo!
Now, I model modern CP. I work for them, so I get all kinds of modeling ideas from work, so when I wanted to weather my AC4400's, I went on what I see every day at work.

New here....
Hi, all.
New here. First post.
My name is Mike. I am modeling modern CP Rail in N scale...I have a fair amount of modern equipment, lots of modern locos. I do all of my own weathering and detailing.
Besides the modeling, I do lots of railway photography, (mainly for my custom projects), I work on a steam locomotive in Kamloops, the ex-CN Consolidation #2141, as well as I work for CP rail as a track maintainer.
Once I figure out how to post pics, I'll post a shot of good old 2141.
Mike.
Got one of the top shots on RP.net

I was very pleasantly surprised by 3 Northbound trains passing each other at Summit, on Cajon Pass. The center train was powered by 7 units, the lead 3 were rescue power from a Southbound train.
