The index is gone in case anyone here has used it. I have used this site quite a lot. It will be missed.

Where to purchase?

I recently learned of the demise of Standard Hobby Supply. That news promped me to start this thread. It is about loyalty.

As the founder (and now former-owner) of Litchfield Station, I have spent the last decade dealing with mostly online buyers, with a little walk-in traffic thrown into the mix. Frequently we heard "Can you beat xxx's price?" to "Well, it used to be less!" or "Is that the best price you can give ME?" and the oft heard "What about a club discount?"!

Editorial - Reverse Running: Get Off the Computer and Do Some Modeling

I love you guys! (or should I say "you all" since I live in Georigia).  To post an article that says that you should spend less time on-line (reading things such as Model Railroad Hobbyist) is so cool!  I've got to admit that I'm hooked on your mag; however, I do typically spend time on-line on your site during time I definately wouldn't be working on my railroad.  I do have to guard against being on-line a little too much!  Balance in everything!  Keep up the great work!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

yes i know i am lat saying it but....

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

Hello from new(ish) member

Hi all,

I've been lurking around here for awhile and thought it's about time I said hello. My name is Steve and I'm from central Victoria, Australia. I have a medium sized double decker layout under construction modelling the Victorian Railways in the 70's. Most of the diesel loco's used in this period are of EMD origin.Like so many others, I "returned" to trains later in life and have been serious about the hobby for the last 3 years.

Heading to Baltimore

Well, I'm headed for Baltimore next week and wondered if there was some model train stuff to check out, hopefully close to my hotel.  I'm staying in the inner harbor area near Camden Yards.  I know the Great Model Train Show is there next Saturday, the 26th, but I'm heading home on the 25th so I won't be able to catch it.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.  Thanks.

The Farmers & Bluestone Railroad is a fictional On30 railroad, loco's and rolling stock spanning from the early 1900's till after WW2. Just started and a whole lot of work to be done, so you'll be looking mostly at bare xps foam :-)

cheers, Leo.

Lincoln Funeral Train

Has anyone ever seen any details on the Officer's Car used in the Funeral Train? There is an article in MR, Feb 1995 about the train that shows the Officer's car behind the Lincoln Car but no drawings. From the photo, the car looks about the same but only two four wheel trucks.
