Modeling Intermodal Facilities

Looking for ideas and inspiration for myself and others that plan to include intermodal operations and facilities on their layouts. This can be an open thread,  and facilities from any time frame are more then welcome.  From a simple circus style loading ramp all the way up to a modern intermodal terminal.

Please share what you have, prototype information, and what you would like to model.

Micro Light

I have been experimenting with some Micro LEDs for a structure that I am been building.

I purchased 10x Warm White Pico 0402 prewired LEDs from Model Railroad Software/Evans Design :-

And a sprue of Lamp Shades from Shapeways - Incredible Miniatures Scale Models :-

Fantasic website--workdwide map of modern rail, pluse notes on abandoned and disused track

This is amazing, and I'd never seen it before.  Track plans all over the place, and the track use marked.

https://www.openrailwaymap.org/?lang=en&lat=43.036111&lon=-70.832778&zoo...

I hope that it's useful--I'd never seen it before.  It even includes museum railroads such as the Seashore Trolley Museum and special purpose lines like the Mount Washington Cog Railway.

Attaching a fascia to foam?

I’m currently expanding my layout and am working with foam on top of my frame. My question is, when it comes time to install my fascia, what’s the best way to attach it to foam? Thanks!

Moderator note: Updated the subject to be more specific.

Has anyone made or done a electric lift up. Can you show a pic and tell us how this is possible. Is it reasonably cheap? Is there already a product out there etc.  Solving he doorway entrance to the train room.

Walthers: Not supporting N scale?

I've been noticing all these great new products coming out from Walthers - the SceneMaster range, the Cornerstone Printing plant, cold storage facility, etc.  Perfect for my modern outline layout (especially the cold storage facility, as my location has one in real life)...however...I model N scale...and all these new structures, people and vehicles are HO only.

Problem with chopper

I was cutting .1 by .1 styrene with the chopper -- short pieces -- about 10th of inch long.  I set up the stop on the right to the right length and screwed it down.  I found that as I cut the pieces they cut got slightly longer and longer.  Screwed it down again.  Same result.  The only thing I can think of is that the pressure of the blade was moving the stop.

Happen to anyone else, solution?

Paint problem

I am just starting to paint kits.   I am making a resin kit which starts out white out  of the box.  I painted the interior of the body of the caboose black so that the white would not be visible through the windows.
