Modeling general discussion

Am I a prototype modeler?
I have participated in model railroading almost continuously since the early 1950s. I went from toy trains to Lionel, then to HO-gauge trains in 1958. There has not been a year that I was not involved in model railroading. I have been a model builder since age 5 when I build my first plastic model airplane kit and have been kit building, kitbashing, and scratch building ever since. I am a model builder and damned proud of it.

Kudos..
...to Keith of Plano Model Products. I ordered a fret of photoetched Cutbars from him Saturday 5/5/18 and received the items 5/9/18! WOW!
I sent him an email to thank him and got a very nice reply too.
I started installing them today and will post a pic ASAP!
NWSL production length?
Anyone else experience long production times from NWSL? I ordered 4 wheels a few weeks ago and still haven't received a shipping notification. Just wondering how normal that is before I call and ask.
Is there something wrong with this photo?
Is there something wrong with this photo? If you think so, tell us about it. Go ahead. Pick it apart! I am serious. No joke!

Ribbed Back Wheel 1959
I found this at the Dennison, OH RR museum on a UTLX tank car. I didn't think that ribbed back wheels were cast this late.

Jim Six's Blogs - Lost?
I don't seem to be able to find the blogs that Jim Six was active in recently. Are they still around? Anyone else see them? Jim posted a photo in the Weekly Photos just yesterday, so I assume he's still with us.

Weekly Photo Fun - May 6 - May 12, 2018
A new week! Post em if you got em! (I was excited about the latest project... heh)

ProtoThrottle production updates
Now that the initial run of ProtoThrottles is in production, we will be providing updates as the process progresses.
All the faceplates have been machined and will be inspected, packed, and shipped for anodizing. The printed circuit board and associated receivers are being fabricated.
More to come later…

Cordless Drill replacement
My 25 year old Craftsman cordless drill has lasted a long time but I want to replace it.
I've done some research and the following DeWalt cordless drills look like good possible choices for $99 shipped on Amazon.
The first has a higher rating (Amazons Choice - 85% 4 or 5 stars) and is brushed.
The second is brushless and has a 81% rating, lower apparently because of complaints about the switches/controls (reversing switch and speed etc) not working right or rusting up.
