Warped Cardstock
I'm building a craftsman kit that calls for a cardstock roof. It is an octagonal water tower so the roof is complicated. To make it easy, the manufacturer provides a paper template to be glued to the cardstock as a cutting and scribing guide. The cardstock was bowed to begin with. Usually applying paint to the cupped side will cause it to go the opposite direction and become flat. I decided to glue the paper with white glue to the cupped side and put it under several heavy books (my old bible commentaries come in handy) and let it dry.

Kids and Trains
First. I don't believe for one millisecond that our hobby is dying. Second, I don't believe that attracting kids to our hobby will ensure its future health. However, since many think that it is important to get kids into trains at an early age (and who would say that's a bad thing) I want to tell what happened last night.

N scale Couplers
As some of you know, I am building a new N scale layout, FEC RR. This is the first time that I am getting real deep into N scale and I am coming across some bumps and challenges on this scale. I bought a fleet of BLMA 64' Tropicana Reefers which I have not been too happy with them. I expected a better quality from BLMA. I understand that Atlas bought them off. Any way, Getting them right off the box, none of them ran well at all. I was able to fix that issue.
Dullcote question/help
Trying to step up my weathering game and use Dullcote through my airbrush. The bottle says to use ONLY Testors thinner, is regular lacquer thinner ok? Suggested mixing ratio? Suggested pressure? Using a Pasche H brush with large tip.
Thanks in advance,

Handrail wire bending
I am making my first model which calls for bending wire to make handrails etc. Does anyone recommend any of the tools sold for this purpose in the Micromark catalog or other options?

Looking For...
Hi All:
Shinohara going out of business or not... I've been unsuccessful watching eBay for quite some time for a Shinohara code 70 #6 CURVED Right Hand switch. (I've seen LEFT #6 LH curves switches passing through... but no right's.)
If you have one laying around that's leftover, or your plans changed/whatever, I would sure be interested in purchasing it from you.
Please use the PM feature to contact me, or use my email: laming at cebridge dot net
Thanks for reading this!

National Train Day
This past Saturday was National Train Day. We just happened to be in Billings, MT and found out they were hosting activities at the Billings Depot, so we stopped in. In the main lobby there were a few gentlemen showing off their O scale locomotives. There was also an HO scale switching "module". It was about 6 feet long and had both a steam engine and a diesel switcher. Behind that was a large collection of railroad memorabilia, lanterns, signs, photos, ect. There was also a mock up of the future track plan for the local model railroader group.
