Modeling general discussion
Pre Installed Just Plug LED Resitor size.
I have a couple of the woodland scenics n scale structures with their just plug lighting pre installed. I already have a 12v DC accessory bus on my layout. I would like to connect the just plug LED's to my 12v bus. I am having problems finding info on what size LED's to size an appropriate resistor. Is anyone with a just plug hub willing to test it's output voltage? I belive can calculate the reaistor voltage from that info.
Thanks
Steve.
Best resources for modeling terrain
I have been working on building one of my craftsman kits - South River Model Works Rugg Manufacturing. As I am getting well into completing the structure, I want to start giving some thought to the surrounding terrain on the diorama. My current level of skill is pretty low - dirt, a couple sizes of ground foam, some weeds and trees here and there. Not that convincing. I have seen some Youtube videos from Luke Towan -- he does some nice work.

Newbie question ...Why do people buy /collect one container/roller stock that
Why do people buy /collect one container/rolling stock that they like and then buy it in all the numbers that model comes in. Does it give it more value etc ...just a newbie question

ProtoThrottle final manual available
For those that may be interested, we have finalized the ProtoThrottle manual. You can view it here: http://www.protothrottle.com/proto2.html#manual
We have updated the firmware several times making improvements. Those improvements are reflected in the manual.
One significant improvement is the throttle now has the capability to use TCS WOWSound's stepped braking feature. This is something the WOWSound modelers had to have and we wanted to make sure it was included.

Tru Color Paint Thickness
Tru Color says it is airbrush ready but when I opened an admittedly old bottle, I would have needed about 100 pounds of pressure to get it to spray. The bottle was new about 3 years ago. I kept it with the cover on tight in a sealed plastic bag. When I opened it the bottle was about 1/3 full and very thick. I was using it on an old project that I don't care about much and wanted to try my new Badger air brush so I thinned it 50/50 with good old hardware store acetone and it sprayed beautifully.
Looking for a Custom Panel Manufacturer
It seems that somewhere I've seen a company that make custom panels, i.e. a yard panel. What I'd like is a panel laid out per my design, painted with the appropriate lines, and holes drilled for pushbuttons. Is anyone aware of a company that does this?
Thanks in advance.

Protothrottle wireless communication protocal
Protothrottle Boys,
I know that the Protothrottle isn't using Bluetooth to communicate with the DCC receiver, but a recent development from a fellow large scale hobbyist had me wondering if the Protothrottle would work and communicate with this guys development.
It looks like his is also using the Xbee radio system to communicate between a phone and the DCC board. My question is, if you worked together could it be possible to make an even more low cost dead rail setup with the Protothrottle?

A case for the NMRA
TL;DR:
The NMRA has introduced me to good people and that, to me, is one of the most important aspects of the hobby.
Please note, this is posted under Personal Journal (editorial or commentary). As such it is one man's opinion. What I want to do is shed some positive light on the NMRA and why I belong to it and support it. As with any organization it has its problems and it isn't for everybody. But I believe it is worthwhile and I'd like to point out why.
