Modeling general discussion
The hobby is dead! Long live The HOBBY!
A recent thread got me thinking. Many think the hobby is dying others that it is not dying. But I think that the reality is that both sides are right and both are wrong.
By this I mean that the hobby has died, again and again and again. It just depends on what you think the hobby is.
I will use some very broad overly simple examples.

**ProtoThrottle pre-orders extended…
We’re excited about the great response to our pre-order signup so far. In less than one week we have sold almost the entire allotment of 150 throttles. Because of this great response, we will be expanding the number of throttles eligible for the discount ($449) by an additional 50 units.

A Model Railroad Discord?
Would there be any interest in a model railroad discord. For those that dont know discord is a site that allows chat style talk andthe ability to make your own servers. I would include channels for things most topics but dont want to go and make one and have no one join it. So whdaya all think any interest?

Perhaps there is hope for the hobby with generation Z.
Saw this the other day on one of my tech sites. I don't want to opine if I agree or not but given the recent backlash regarding social media, perhaps the pendulum will start to swing back the other way???
Let’s see your layout or modeling space
I really enjoy seeing how other modelers use the space they can appropriate to enjoy their hobby. We share a lot of great modeling pictures here but I thought it would be fun to see the complete space, warts and all. Clean or not, let’s see it. I’ll start with mine in the next post. The photos were taken this afternoon and the usual project debris is in its normal scattered state.. Seems that I just cleaned it up a couple of weeks ago........the only thing I do fast is making a mess.

Smokey The Bear Posters
I found an interesting source of images of Smokey The Bear posters, dated from 1949 through 1979. It seems like they would provide you with a nice, subtle bit of detail to help establish the era of your layout while adding a spot of color to your structures.

Another week, so it is time for a new WPF!
Please feel free to post finished or in progress pictures!

No model railroading for awhile
Like many other model railroaders I have multiple hobbies including painting. I consider myself a novice; however, I enjoy it and that's the important thing. My daughter has asked that I do a painting with an Italian flavor so I'm going to do an 18" x 24" oil painting based on artist Kevin Hill's "Italian Tuscany Landscape". I'll use the basic arch theme but will modify the elements so it doesn't look like a copy. I spent this morning gathering my supplies and preparing the room. I'm using my layout room as I can leav

gloss coat over primer
I just finnished spraying black primer on a tank car. I like the looks so im thinking of
spraying a clear gloss cote just where the decals go and after the decals dry , spraying the whole car with dull cote. will this work or screw the car up.
Thank you for

Disappearing window and door makers...
With the upcoming closing of Grandt Lines, many posters here suggested buying from Tichy Trains or Rusty Stumps. Unfortunately, Walt at Rusty Stumps has had some health issues and is stopping production of his beautiful laser cut doors, windows, shingles and fencing as of June 1. The good news is he will continue with the rest of the business and plans to expand his 3D printing.
Also, looks like Vectorcut is gone for good now. Who else does lasercut details parts?
