Is this PanPastel still usable

Hi,

I got this PanPastel from a vendor on Amazon.fr. The inside is a mess, and I don't know if I can still use it.

Mike Cougill post on the ProtoThrottle

Mike Cougill has a well-written post about his impressions of the ProtoThrottle from the St. Louis RPM this past weekend. I thought some of you might enjoy reading his thoughts.

The Value of a Friend's Honest Opinion / Rail Color Correction

When I visited my good friend Michael Rose the other day we were discussing rail colors and he said "I don't like the rail color on your layout - it's too red."  My layout does have two different rail colors where I switched from ??? color which was a more reddish color to the Tamiya XF-64 Red/Brown color which is a little browner.

Board by board construction

This is a question about building a structure board by board with scale wood.

My question is, what tools, glues and techniques do you use?

I have my workbench set up with a board, the wall diagram taped down and wax paper taped down on top.

Recommendations of how to keep things from moving around and keep everything square.

Bill.

Michael Rose is alive and well!

This post is for all of you fans of Michael Rose to let you know that he is alive and well as I observed from my visit to see him last week.  He had contacted me to get my input on some ideas he had and of course for some excellent fellowship (including delicious peach cake and German coffee!)

Realistic water

smileyI found out the hard way, if you don't stir the liquids to make realistic water long enough, when you pour it, it won't set or harden.  I poured a stream 10 months ago and it is very tacky to the touch.  however i found a solution for the problem.  Instead of digging it all up and starting all over again, I have found that you can buy clear epoxy glue.  The kind in the dual plunger reservoir

What kind of bad stuff can happen

HI All

Im posting this in several categories to get input from multiple folks if thats a bad thing, im sorry

As part of my operations plan, I am planning to make a deck of "event" cards

at the start of each operating session (which might last many days as I am a Lone Wolf operator) I'll throw a 6 sided dice to see how many event cards to pull

assuming I'm using a standard playing deck, 30 of the cards will be "Normal Day - No Problems" (is that too high or too low or about right)

Bench Top Drill presses and bit sizes

Wife and I both want a bench top drill press with out spending an arm and or a leg.

Lowes has a Porter-Cable 3.2 amp 5 speed model that I fit a size 56 bit into and couldn't pull it out. Porter-Cable rep says it will handle down to 1/32 bit.

Grizzly who is here in town has what they call a mini model bench top #67942 which will also handle a size 56 bit and the floor rep says it will go down to a #0

So is a #0 bigger then a #56?

Anybody have some experience to share or just insights would help a lot.
