MRH Magazine general discussion

Ken Patterson snubs N Scalers?
I just watched Ken Patterson's Video bonus for this month. I was impressed right up until I heard Ken's plea for people to contact him. He states "it doesn't matter what scale" then goes on to list the scales, then lists several scales, however he omits the second most popular model railroad scale. Why did Ken snub us N Scalers?
Moderators edit: This post asks a question so we added a question mark to the title.
John Wilkes L&N layout
I just got done reading the August issue of MRH and enjoyed it as always. However what really got me excited was next month's announcement of the September issue. As a L&N modeler and railfan, i'm so looking forward to reading and viewing John Wilkes's new L&N layout. That big alco C630 makes me think of black smoke, alco rumbles, and coal trains galore. Can't wait. Thanks, Andrew.

Bonus Extras?
Is there going to be a schedule for the Bonus Extras?
The last couple of releases the Bonus extras haven't been put up on the site the next day like previous issues.
What is the schedule for the release of the Extras?
Thanks
Dale

A crying shame.....
That the reverse running column is overflowing with post full of controversy over the subject matter of the column but the column on such as wonderful thing as the John Allen Centennial which is something that we should all be able to enjoy and appreciate has two whole post, one of them being mine.
Reference
Good morning everyone. I need help with reference material. Is there a model railroader reference that is the "be all, end all" out there?
MRH TOC Index as MS Access DB
Hi All,
I've just got permission from Bill Brillinger to use his MRH index list as a base to create a MS Access database that will allow the search by Author and Magazine Name and also to open the corresponding magazine in article page. It's still a beta version with, most probably, a lot of bugs and room for improvement. Therefore any comments are most welcome, thanks.

A couple of notes on the usage:

Indianapolis Union Station: A Rivet Counter's Dream
At the beginning of this week I was in Indianapolis, Indiana for company training and stayed just across from Union Station. Now I know that's it's not modeling, but I also love the 1 to 1 scale trains and everything associated with them. I especially love the grand architecture of many of the old railroad stations. Here's some information from Wikipedia about Union Station:

Layout Design pifalls and success
Hello!
I have used one of my last summer holidays to read through some of the free samples of 'Layout Design Journal' - and found the topics very interesting and well written.
No need to compete with this magazine, but this part of our hobby should be used as a interesting basis for a new topic in the MRH Magazine. Anyone agree out there?
National Model Railroad Association
Been a Model Railroader for ten years now and recently considered joining the National Model Railroad Association, (NMRA). Based on the website, the organization seems "a little dated" including their achievement program. (Is scratch building cars or locomotives a relevant skill in today's hobby?)
Curious of other peoples thoughts and experience with the NMRA.
