Layout Sound - Cabooses and other non-locomotives

Hi Joe:

Great editorial in the May 2013 issue. I agree - we can do more with layout sound. Beyond the basic rumble of the train, I have some ideas for your readers:

Rehash - Sound for your layout

With the recent discussion in the latest MRH May issue on sound and with a thread on this site I present for your pleasure? a summer rerun from the August 2011 MRH magazine: "Background Sounds"  Click HERE to go to that article.

I'm not trying to persuade anyone to do it "my way" - just give info on using cheap MP3 players for background sound.

Revisiting Reading MRH on Tablet

I really have no incentive to buy a Tablet OTHER THAN to read MRH.  But that is an option I would like to explore again with Gen2 coming into being, and the coming soon conversion to HTML5.  So all i am interested in is a tablet that will allow me to "experience" (for lack of a better word since one does not just read MRH with videos as a part of it) everything MRH e-zine has to offer (again including videos, 3-D graphics, etc).

Should I wait for MRH to fully convert to HTML5 before even investigating this option?

Having issues downloading May 2013 MRH

Hi,

I received the email that the May issue is ready for down load but when I clicked the link it said "this file is already in open in Adobe flash player", (I hadn't even down loaded it yet) In my file folder where I keep my MRH issues it shows the May issue, but the file size is 0 and when I try to open or delete the PDF I get the same message as above. I can't open, move or delete the file.

Previous MRH issues

Hi,

I have a friend who just found MRH who lives across the pond and he asked me if there is any way he can download previous issues of the Ezine. I told him I'd post and try to get an answer.

Suggestion: Submission status page

I really don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I'm going to throw it out there and see what people think.  I'll be the first to admit that it's only half-baked at this point.

I was just imagining a web page, probably a spreadsheet or table of some sort, which shows all the current article and tip submissions by author, along with some indication of the status.  Ideally, it would be updated automatically so that, as soon as you submit something and it is really and truly available to the editors at MRH, it shows up on the table.

Searching for an Advertiser

A few months back I saw advertised some "street figures", graffiti artist and I think some pimps and hookers. I filed it away mentally as "I'll need them when I build..." well now I'm building that but can't seem to find the ad. Some of my downloads from last summer haven't kept do to issues with an app on my tablet and I suspect it was during that time I saw the advertisement. Can anybody advice me the company I might be looking for?

Thanks

Matt
