Tender Oil Conversion
I had a hard time finding usable photos of an oil tender when I was trying to convert my Bachmann mogul. One day my wife and I took a drive into Arkansas and ended up in Eureka Springs. Lo and behold, they had a mogul in the yard with an oil tender. I got the kind of excited that makes my wife visibly uncomfortable.

Building a foldable yard for PNW FreemoN
Another project! The guys in the Freemo group really REALLY want a yard to be able to support some operations. Up until now, we have pretty much been in "proof of concept" mode and getting all the modules bullet proofed. We have attracted some new active participants and now have a pretty decent length of run and variety of industries, and a couple of other yards that are under construction.

Weathering
I am working on weathering some of my wooden boxcars. I model in the 1940's, so almost all of my cars are made of wood, (simulated wood actually), but some are made of strip wood, which makes weathering a little easier.
I have been following Gary Christensen's videos on Trainmasters TV, and although they weather metal sided cars, I have been experimenting with his techniques.
New layout
This is a layout that was design by John Prescott I met on facebook. I been fasinated by the N&W railroad and there passenger trains and coal haling mountain railroad. Its more a freelanced part of Bluefield West Virginia. The main yard its self is 40 feet long by 18 in wide. I am going to have a 15 stall roundhouse and freight house and some freight switching in Bluefield like the prototype. The N&W was all double track but am doing my single track with lots of passing sidings, No I am not doing the electric helpers. The grade is going to be between 2 2-!/2 % grade.

Progress, Changes, & More Building Mock-Ups in the Union Station area
One of the great things about the model railroad hobby is that it has a lot of different aspects to it. When I get tired of doing the layout construction and/or electrical aspect, I can shift to buildings & scenery. For the last couple of weeks, I have been working on some of the key buildings within the Union Station area of the layout. Even though I had shifted from doing track & electrical, I ended up having to add an additional passenger track (Track # 4) to Union Station to provide for mail and postal operations.

Coming soon to the Richlawn RR - a new (very old) loco
It's an Atlas HH660 loco! The L&N only had one - the one (No. 10) pictured below. I got it from ebay and will install a DCC decoder (also shipped & on the way). I'm planning on using it in my little yard to assemble trains to add a little operational interest. Because of its advanced age in the 1960s and 70s I also eventually will weather it to look old and worn out. Photo from RRPictureArchives.NET - image contributed by Gary Everhart.
