A Tale of Three, make that four Bridges

It's been a quiet summer on Laurel Creek, at least as far as the layout goes (other stuff, hoo-boy!). I am tired of looking at pink foam, so the odd minutes I have found for modeling have gone toward getting ready for landscaping. The main geological feature of the LT&SS is Medium Creek, which divides the layout horizontally:

Ideas for Replicating Cement Dust??

A key piece of modeling the cement industry (especially in the pre-environmental control era) is the ever present cement dust, that covered everything. I have thought of plaster powder or chalk.  Other ideas?

Conduit for track feeder wires

I'm at the point in construction where I'm ready to start attaching track to roadbed.  Prior to setting down the track I'll solder feeder wires to each segment.  Once set in place I'll drill holes on either side of the track to drop feeder wire to the bus.  Subroadbed is 2" of foam on top of 3/8" ply.

I was thinking of using either Plastruct styrene tubing or plain old aquarium tubing for a conduit through the subroadbed and running the wire through the conduit.  Does anyone have experience using aquarium tubing?

Thanks.

Module Rotisserie

I watched the "Back to the Basement" TMTV video with Miles Hale that showed his module rotisserie. I thought that was a great idea so I made one. I also made a 2' x 8' module to hang on it. JoeF mentions the TOMA concept and the 2x6 module. That size doesn't work for me in my layout space but a couple 2x8 modules do. I'm actually starting my first model railroad!

Porcupine Valley - Sometimes it pays to not speak English!

The wife and daughter of the owner of the Hotel California stopped by to see the progress on the yard work. She is seen here asking the foreman where the water pool is that she saw on the drawing plan. The answer she got was, "No Speakie Englass."

Help Identifying a Covered Hopper

I need a little help identifying this covered hopper.

I think it is a Pullman Standard PS-2 but I don't think it is the ubiquitous 4740.

The Whip City Railway

Evening all. Been awhile since I posted in here. Wanted to get some advice form the old heads so figured I'd post progress and plans in here. I'd appreciate any advice you folks can offer.  Below is a basic desription of what I have so far. Below that the track plan to date.

All the white will be more or less at one level. That may change as I modify things as we go.
