Space layout help

Seeking some suggestions, as I am starting to plan my layout to fill a room that the exterior is 20ft x 20ft.  My plan is a double deck layout.  What is typically the best way to use the space to it's fullest use.  My isle will be min width of 24 inches.  I know if I use a helix, that will take room, and a no-lix requires run, so overall if you can suggest the best way, it will be helpful.

Thanks,

Nate

SIMPLE AND EASY USE OF PERMANENT MAGNET FOR KADEE UNCOUPLING WITHOUT UNWANTED UNCOUPLING

Hi

See many  questions about Rapido uncouplers, but here is very simple way to use permanent magnet.

Friend of mine and myself discover this so simple trick just because of some error manipulation when installing permanent magnet on a layout.

We all know permanent magnet work well, but when this magnet is placed on a important running track, some unwanted uncoupling happen time by time.

Here is the trick,

Wiring a Layout for DCC and DC

I need to wire my layout for both DCC and DC. Plus a programming track. I had a friend help me with the wiring.

The DC and DCC need to be completely separate so there is no possibility of having both of them one.

LED lighting re-install on my Richlawn Railroad

As many of you know I previously converted the room lighting on my railroad from track lighting using halogen lights to LED using the Michael Rose designed boards available through Bill B.  You can see information on that conversion HERE.

Filling Boxcars with Stuffing

No sure how much this topic has had devoted to this but it strikes me that the typical closed boxcar is a great resonance chamber, my thoughts are to simply put some sort of stuffing into space to "kill" the sound waves and potentially help quieten the unwanted noises. I've posted some images below of before and after.

Modifying a MTH Berkshire to prototype

This weekend I couldn't pass on an HO MTH Pere Marquette Berkshire 1225 for $125.  MTH actually prototyped it from the Nickel Plate Rd 765 so the main issue is it has a horizontally slatted pilot instead of vertical boiler tube pilot the the pilot wheel are roller bearing instead of solid.  I am trying to figure on a way to correct these (mainly the pilot)  Bachmann and Proto made these engines but I can't find the pilot parts.  Cal Scal and precision have castings that are close and I am new/having trouble drawing a 3D image for Shapeways.  Any suggest
