Warped Cardstock
I'm building a craftsman kit that calls for a cardstock roof. It is an octagonal water tower so the roof is complicated. To make it easy, the manufacturer provides a paper template to be glued to the cardstock as a cutting and scribing guide. The cardstock was bowed to begin with. Usually applying paint to the cupped side will cause it to go the opposite direction and become flat. I decided to glue the paper with white glue to the cupped side and put it under several heavy books (my old bible commentaries come in handy) and let it dry.

Happy Birthday Joe !
Hopefully you will get to do some fun railroading today...either real or model ( that does NOT include tearing out the Siskiyou ! ). Enjoy the day !

Layout Op Sessions in Omaha/Council Bluffs area
I am looking for any layouts open to new people participating in op sessions in the Omaha / Council Bluffs area. I am open to driving to Lincoln if it works with my schedule. I have been modeling since I can remember and am currently working on a 13' x 7' N Scale MRL layout. I am familiar with NCE and Digitrax and understand basic op session guidelines, though this would be my first time.

The difficult decision to model something different
I was born and raised in Las Vegas and for the past 10 years I have been building a model railroad based on the Central Nevada mining railroads of the WWI era. I love researching these railroads and then designing a building a model that brings it to life again. Finding Myrick's books on railroads of Nevada while in college is what led to my life-long interest in railroad history and model railroads.
Show your train order signals!
Show your modeled train order signals!
I was interested in modeling a horizontal color light signal as seen below, possibly using a Tomar TO Signal as a starting point. Can you post your modeled TO signals, semaphore, light, or other? Also ideas for lighting, control, and fascia panels would be appreciated. I am looking for ideas and inspiration.

Vertical clearance for staging
On my last 10x18' layout, due to space and grade constraints, I had about 7 1/2 inches from track to ceiling in my staging yard. It was workable but obviously restrictive. Here you can see that vertical clearance and the ramp up to it which had a max grade of 2.9%. Upper left in photo would have been about 7 1/2 inches.

Running Trains with Smartphones as Controller you have Computer and command station.
This is using a NCE 5 Amp Power Pro System and a computer with JMRI installed. Next post down is using a Raspberry Pi computer and 5 amp command power pro station.

Running Trains with Smartphones and Raspberry Pi Computer
This one of two on this subject I have done in last two weeks had bunch of questions come up on doing this. Other one is for people have existing command stations and a computer.
Handrail wire bending
I am making my first model which calls for bending wire to make handrails etc. Does anyone recommend any of the tools sold for this purpose in the Micromark catalog or other options?

Drapes for front of layout
Underneath my Layout I have a Computer etc, I would like to cover that up with hanging Drapes along the front of my layout, I would like to slide them to the side when I want to use the Computer. How have you done this on your Layout?.
