Finally programming my own engines
Since we have released the initial run of ProtoThrottles, I finally am starting to play with and program my own engines to operate realistically with the throttle.
Crossover Help
I started to get my wiring done for staging but having trouble with a Walthers Double Crossover. I've not wired frogs before, got lucky I guess, but starting to think I may add just for security, any thoughts?

Ops sessions using multiple ProtoThrottles
Below are some random photos and a very short video showing multiple ProtoThrottles being used in operating sessions on Joe Atkinson's Iowa Interstate layout and Tim Dickinson's Burlington Northern layout – both beautiful layouts…
Mantua/Tyco 4-6-0 Sn3
Has anyone converted the old Mantua/Tyco HO 4-6-0 into an Sn3 Southern Pacific narrow gauge 4-6-0. I was amazed how close the dimensions of the mechanism are. There is an S scale plan for the SPNG #12 in the May 1983 issue of Model Railroader. I do not have the model in hand but instead I used the dimensions of the model in the review in the January 1966 Model Railroader. For Sn3 the drivers would have to be narrowed slightly. I did some searching but was unable to find any previous articles on this conversion.

When in Thompson...
...do some prototype research.
A work trip has taken me to Thompson Manitoba, which just so happens to be part of the Hudson Bay Railway route. While I won't be modelling Thompson directly, it does offer me the chance to do some research on my prototype area.
Naming Things
Hi Folks:
2 Quick questions:
How are trains named? Im getting ready to start laying out the different trains that will be running on my layout and I want to get the names right -- if it matters, UP Or BNSF Practice would be appropriate for my line
2. How are switches named or numbered in prototype practice? Its getting to where I will soon need to start labeling them and want to get it right (again, BNSF or UP is appropriate for my layout)

O.H. Wright and Co. Bartlet Building, custom diorama build
Life is pretty tough right now. Between the honey-do list, the pt job and the other pt job, I have come to the point where I am actually escaping to build these projects. Fret not though, I believe my best work always comes under duress and this sure feels like duress.

EMD Styling model
So I tried getting some info on this a while ago but had some bad photos so I went to take some better one I am also inquiring with trains magazine to see if they can help but anyone know or hear anything about styling models?
Disassembly Pictures: Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2 Light Mountain - HO
I've got an electrical problem with a Bachmann Spectrum I picked up a while ago (I know, crazy, right?). I tested the engine and tender out on other Bachmann Spectrum engines and cars (4-8-2 to 4-4-0 tender, 4-4-0 to 4-8-2 tender), and found electrical shortages in both the tender and loco. While I was disassembling the loco, I figured I'd take pictures during the steps, so I can remember where things are when I'm rebuilding it. Hopefully these pictures will be able to assist anyone else in their rebuilds.
What's on your workbench - Aug 2018
With all the talk of Chinese factory closings, it maybe time to get back to the hobbies roots, at least as I remember it as building things especially kits. I just finished a vintage Campbell kit.(probably 50 years old) See attached photos
