UK TV -The Great Model Railway Challenge
The British TV broadcaster, Channel 5, will be showing a new series of six, hour-long, shows called the Great Model Railway Challenge. Fifteen teams of six members each, will complete in five heats to build a complete model railway in 24 hours (spread over 3 days). The winner of each heat will go on to compete in the final.
Each layout measures 10 feet by 5 feet, and each heat will have a given 'theme' that the layouts have to adhere to. The layouts will be judged for model making skills, operation, animations, theatricality and humour.
New Lenox IL train depot "not where it's supposed to be"
Just a clip & video for those who need a prototype to copy. Another case of "Don;t look where it was... "

August 2018 running video - Let's run some trains!
A lot of different eras and types of trains represented at the August 2018 op session running the layout(s). Track work is done on the Inside Gateway mainline section. I hope to complete scenery (basic not hyper-detailed) in time for the holiday open house this December. Some of the guys got to run the narrow gauge too. Enjoy!
Problems with NCE Light it
I purchased a few of this versatile decoder... and cornered myself through some error - of mine, no doubt.
After wiring them up, I started the program mode... and somehow got 2 of them into DC Mode... and can't get them to revert to factory settings, or DCC Loco Mode.
Is anyone aware of a way to correct this?
It appears they'll do just fine for my needs... I am otherwise impressed.
NCE has been sent a request for help... but, as this is the weekend, that's a day away.
CN Rail Barge Operations
I am looking for information about the CN rail barge operations out of Prince Rupert. I can find lots of info on the Aqua Train which is basically a connection to the Alaska RR. That goes back to about 1980. What I am wondering and cannot seem to find any info on is if there was rail barge operations at Prince Rupert before that. I have found an image or two that suggest that there was rail barge operations before but I can find no other info. I am hoping that some of the CN folks on here may help shed some light on the subject.
RRVRR - Rhine River Valley RailRoad, German HO Layout in the making
Hi @ all,
A friend pointed me to this website since he maintains a blog here, so I thought I try this too and see where it leads.
Following Threads and forums
Probably the wrong spot for this, but I cant find the "right" place for it --
Is there any way in this forum software to follow a thread or forum, ie, get e-mail messages when a new post is made etc?
Thanks

Pallet Painting/weathering
I have a couple dozen HO scale pallets from 3 different manufacturers/importers. Some are a light grey, some are very light tan, and the rest are dark brown. None of these colors are realistic looking. Any suggestions as to how to paint/weather these so they look more scale-like?

Kit Bashing the Great Western Loveland Pulp Warehouse
The last structure to be added to the model Great Western Loveland yard is the beet pulp warehouse. The warehouse received beet pulp and molasses from the factory. The pulp and molasses were pelletized and stored in bulk bins and burlap bags until it was needed. The pellets were shipped in covered hoppers and box cars to feed mills for cattle feed.
