Glue Atlas Track to Alum Roadbed (plastic to metal)

I'm building my 'connection bridges' between my indoor layout to my exterior helix structure with aluminum channels. I need to glue the atlas track to the aluminum surface of those channels.

I have 2 situations:
a) direct attachment of the atlas plastic ties to the alum surface (no room for any type of roadbed under track)

b) some 'bridges' will allow clearance for a roadbed. I've considered a 1/8 cork, ...but having some doubts about its moisture absorbing possibility?

Taking lighting to the next step

Finally they did arrive. New LEDs for lighting where I require very small outlines.

On the picture you see an SMD LED 0402 next to a figure in N-scale. And yes, it is the tiny dot in front of the toothpick. I didnt yet install one as the weekend was clogged with other activities, but once I do, I will keep you posted.

Best regards

Mark

What to consider with double deck layouts

I’m inclined toward doing a double deck layout that would provide some railfaning on the lower level with an interchange to a branch line on the upper deck.

My room has some limitations but an access door requires that there be 41” clear below the lower deck framing and, because of sloping ceilings, the upper deck might be shallow - right now it is mocked up at 12” deep but could be less.

Signaling for an interlocking plant with Arduino and Tortoise switch machine contacts.

I have an interlocking problem where, in a relatively small space are located  8 track switches and 7 entrances and exits in and out of of the plant.  Also it looks like I will need 18 signal heads to control movements within the this space.  I am modeling the the B&O with a junction with NYC at this point.  One signal (S1) will be NYC format the others are B&O.position light signals.  The B&O also uses marker lights, white, blue, and one called lunar white as well as the red, yellow and green.  The marker lights, with as man

Finally a trackplan and benchwork!

Hello all,

Its taken me many months of plotting, planning, consulting (thanks Tim M.) and some hard looks at what i can do with limited time and space. I  realized I cannot get the steam era design i want in my space so I am shelving the idea for awhile (or a move to a tilt-up building and a kitchen) and building a modern setting switching layout. I live in Lake Havasu, Arizona so a garage layout is out of the question. The 9 month summer here is deadly to track. So I am building a shelf layout there and will move indoors once it gets hot here.

C&O RSD5 - Long or Short hood Forward?

Dear C&O fans,

Hopefully a quick one, which significant hours online searching has not yet definitively answered....

For the C&O 905X series Alco RSD5,
and the C&O EMD GP9,

Did C&O consider the Short or the Long hood to be the Front?

Allagash Railway EMD GP7 for sale on Ebay

A one-time post to alert anyone interested that I've listed the first Allagash Railway locomotive on Ebay. As previously posted (with permission) I will be doing a couple of weathered freight cars per week, and the occasional loco.

Thanks for looking. Here is the link
