Steel cables and barbed wire
Hello fellow modelers,
I am also into tabletop games and recently came across some stuff to enhance the bases of the figures.
I got me some barbed wire with a diameter of 1mm and a steel cable also 1mm.
Compared to the stuff you can buy in the modelrailroad hobby supply, these are cheaper by up to 60%. There are also grass tufts, static grass and nearly every scenery material you can imagine. All from companies not known in the modelrailroad hobby, but well known for tabletop gamers.
Taking lighting to the next step
Finally they did arrive. New LEDs for lighting where I require very small outlines.
On the picture you see an SMD LED 0402 next to a figure in N-scale. And yes, it is the tiny dot in front of the toothpick. I didnt yet install one as the weekend was clogged with other activities, but once I do, I will keep you posted.
Best regards
Mark
Speed Matching for DCC engines - Arduino Speedometer
Hi guys,
now that several of my engines are finally converted to DCC, I want to try the consisting. Step one should be having all engines of one type with the same behaviour at the throttle and capped at their prototypical max. speed. In order to achieve this, I needed a speedometer.
After trying several webpages on this matter, I finally came across this one:

DCC Turnouts
Hello fellow modellers,
Finally done with the turnout DCC decoders, programming and including them in the Railroad Controller Bronze (this is available from www.freiwald.com). I also tried to use JMRI, but so far I am only comfortable with it for loco decoder programming.
The decoder for the switches was constructed using Dr. Geoff Bunza's proposal. Unfortunately as far as I know these Arduino decoders up till now only work in the 2 digit range.
Electricity, Turnouts and me
Hya,
after a long time, I finally decided to connect all the turnout motors to the DCC via Arduino (thanks to Geoff Bunza).
It took me nearly two years to convince myself to start this endeavour, as I hate anything to do with electricity. This kept me from doing anything on the model for nearly two years - the other long interruption was due to doing all the connections to turnouts and track several years ago (I am more a scenery person).
Converting old Life Like PA-1 to DCC and touching it up (Part I)
Hi all,
just recently I started to venture into DCC. My layout exists since quite some while, but it is more building that wets my tongue, than actually driving trains around.
Also as I live in a flat, it is not big, consists of one layout element that hopefully at a later stage will find home in a suitable basement. As the blog says, I model the CP freelanced, so the UP has also some reason to exist. It is in N-scale and the passing siding tracks are a bit over 8 ft (as I have an old Rivarossi Big Boy, this would look otherwise somehow out of place).

Just to show some pics of my progress and other stuff that I am up to.
