Construction Continues
As my Instagram and YouTube activity goes up I've been ignoring my blogging a bit. What I am not ignoring however is my layout room. Construction continues even as the weather gets nicer and the great outdoors calls to me. I'm going a bit slow, a bit deliberately, but I am happy with the progress I've made thus far.
I find there is a certain degree of magic in this point of the model railroad construction process. It is the beginning of a long journey. It is no longer just an idea in my mind. It is a sketch, a skeleton about to come to life.

Walthers WiFlyer - how are they doing this?
Got one of my many weekly emails from Walthers today, and the top item intrigued me - "WiFlyer Express" - details are light, but it sounds like they're integrating WiFi into their train sets.
Here is the ad: http://click.walthers.com/v/z03c2Hi0000Okpx3Fcb0X00 (I expect they'll wonder why I'm opening my email from them from all over the world)

Another hard working steam engine (2-6-6-2T) on Mother's Day
Good morning,
This past weekend I was visiting my Mom and Dad in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The weather was perfect for picture taking and I hadn't gotten any video of the "1880's Train" (Black Hills Central) this visit. Here is #110 working hard and almost to the top of the grade between Hill City and Keystone South Dakota.
Need help wiring a DCC reverse loop!
I would like this yard to have automatic electrical reverse loop for DCC and future JMRI operation. My first question is whether each track needs an automatic reverser.
Older Brass engine troubles
I have an old HO Scale United Brass Steam Engine that was given to me by an older gentleman years ago.
I had a hobby shop put in DCC sound and a new motor.
The problem is that it doesn't run well. It did at one point but not now. After a bit of investigation with the lights out and the use of a multimetre, I think I see the problem.
Genesis 4884 big boy
Hi, I have a genesis 4-8-8-4 big boy.The engine operates sound, bells, whistles, etc.The engine will not move forward or reverse when I give it a speed command. I want to inspect the driveshaft from the engine to the wheels to see if somehow it came dis-connected as my wheels turn freely. I dob't know how to remove the shell. Anybody had this problem.

DC wiring help: 3-way and #6 on adjacent tracks
Hi everyone,
I've looked everywhere and can't find anything describing how to do what I'm trying to do....
I have three locations on my layout with the same track configuration, so if I can figure this out once, I can replicate the rest of the way.
In one direction (track one, the top track below) is a PECO 3-way turnout, with one of the diverging tracks going to the diverging track from a standard #6 turnout on track 1 facing the opposite direction (I just tried pasting the arrangement in below).
