Laser cutting design

Looking for information on designing for laser cutting.  I am in O Scale and have a 50 Watt cutter.  I have done some simple buildings but now want to learn to cut and engrave for brick and or stone structures.  Have two books published in the UK but that is all I have found so far.  The other more expensive way would be to buy some kits and see how they are designed.

Thanks

Switch stand targets

I use the Caboose Industries 204S switch stands on my S scale layout. They have plenty of throw for S scale and look decent when weathered. I don't like the plastic targets that come with them and have to be glued to their wire staff so I make new targets from thin brass sheet and .028 brass wire. I made a simple jig to hold the pieces while soldering them. The brass wire is nice as it will bend if hit and lessen the strain on the plastic stand.

Manchester IA - Chicago Central & Pacific Operations (CN) Question

Anyone have information on schedules, scanner freqs, etc.? I know this is kinda off the wall, but figured someone might have this info! I'm here for a couple of days and thought I'd check it out!

CN’s Rail Inspection Portals

Found out about this now - it's kind of old news (last year), but worth sharing.

DT & I Large Scale Boxcar Weathering Project (Work in Progress)

After the success of weathering my first large scale boxcar back this winter, I decided to tackle another long forgotten project. Years ago, another large scale modeler Brian Brigg's passed away. He was a excellent modeler, scratch and kitbashing large scale projects. In the following post, I will explain some background and get into the model.

Here are some links to some of his projects.

Atlas SD35 decoder trouble

I have an Atlas SD35 with factory decoder. I am unable to get full speed from the locomotive when using DCC. While using DC I can get full speed. I have reset the decoder to factory settings with no luck. I have tried setting starting voltage mid voltage and Max voltage all with no luck. I have tried different speed curves on JMRI no luck. Everything else with the decoder works fine. I'm at a loss and can't think of anything else to try. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I came across this image and am wondering if this type of tank car is available in HO scale.

Visit to some fellow modellers

I have just got back from vacation on the west coast. Went to meet up with friends and family. Visited with long time friend, fellow geologist and model railroad enthusiast Marc Simpson. Marc was able to get me down to meet Mark Dance and see his world class layout, The Columbia and Western Railway.

i took my HBMS #2 to Marc’s layout for a few photo ops. Marc models HBMS and the CN line.
