Stone Arch Viaduct / Bridge

Stone Arch Viaduct / Bridge

I've included both names as I have seen folks address them with either name. I think what I am trying to create is principally a viaduct, but yesterday I inserted a bridge in a portion of it. I did it in a straight track portion, so I could alternately allow for it to be included in the final trackwork, or perhaps not.

Your experience, and tips with resin models

I am about to really change gears and direction in my modeling. One reason is the amount of resin rolling stock that will support what I am going to focus my modeling around.

Before I jump in the deep end I wanted to get some forum members feedback on experience with resin cars.

Tips, ups and downs etc.

Multiple Postings to Single Subject Thread

I've had some forum members suggest that I am trying to 'monopolize' a forum discussion by placing multiple postings on it in succession. I wish to explain my actions so you might understand why I do such things in a number of incidents.

And ask each of you if you've run into the same situation?

Model Railroading in Southern Nevada?

So over a year ago I had to completely dismantle my model railroad as I no longer had any space for it. In fact, I currently don’t have any space in my apartment for any sort of layout of any size. Long story short, My roommates take up a majority of the apartment leaving me with no space to build anything.

HO Steam Shovel

Good morning.

Would like to "build" a small "mom and pop" gravel pit set in the 1940/1960 era time frame on a midwestern HO layout.

Unable to locate an HO scale Steam Shovel or similar to load gravel and sand, etc. into gons and/or hoppers.

Protothrottle speed curve

I'll buy a Proto Throttle relatively soon based on the great feedback I've seen here on the forums.  Tim Garland had written an article addressing a number of custom settings including momentum and deceleration curves.  What I can't seem to find is mid- and max-speed settings.

What have others found to be good speed settings?  Are you doing min/mid/max or a custom curve?  What values are you using?

i'm trying to get to the most prototypical settings and would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Benchwork Grid for spline Railroad

Hi All -- im busy designing the benchwork for the restart of my San Luis and Rio Grande.  This version is going to be constructed with spline subroadbed and cork roadbed (plywood and homosate for yards and staging etc) with some form of hard shell for scenery.  Benchwork will be 2x2 pine with 1x risers to support the spline.

Im wondering what the spacing of the gridwork should be?  I want to have sufficient room to drill runs through the cross pieces, and also want to be able to get sufficient support under the spline

Model Storage & Display

Hi all! I suppose many of us have a second hobby or other things aside from modelling which occupy our free time.  Mine is woodworking and building furniture.  I've ended up dedicating more time to this recently as I have a fully outfitted wood shop at my disposal, though I do enjoy working on detailing and weathering locomotives and rolling stock when I have the chance, as well as a few static diorama scenes approximately 12"x24".
