sticky water

Sticky Water - About 2 weeks ago I poured Envirotex light for a river and pond. To date I still have several sticky to the touch area's. I believe I mixed it accordingly, and some area's are rock hard and fine.

Can I do another pour over the sticky area's with another product in hopes of hardening those area's..???

Thanks in advance

Project 50 foot

Prototype car: Hudson Bay Railway HBRY 551567, ex CN 551567

My next round of freight cars will be a batch of CN 50' boxcars in the 551XXX series.  These were common in my modelling era and locale so having a few is a necessity.  CN renumbered the cars into the 551500 series starting in 1981 and as part of that work reinforced the car ends with steel beams.

Are the AHM 2-8-8-2's any good?

So, in my still-continuing quest for articulated steam power that will pull my 10 cars up a two-percent grade, I've finally settled on the older 2-8-8-2 mallets from Rivorassi/AHM. Why? Well, a couple reasons. They're a fair bit less money, I've seen 'em pull the wall off two percent grades at the club, and once I finally get to that dream layout down the road I can have them pulling 25-car drags with one of the spectrum 2-6-6-2's on helper duty.

Working with foliage

Foliage is the key to realistic landscape modeling in any scale. I´m in this video sharing some of my best application methods, both for bushes and trees, as well as composition and 3D perspective aspects.

Steam Locomotive info

I'm I need of some help. I have recently started to model project, a S4 CB&Q 4-6-4 locomotive #3001. I am very lucky to live in the same city as where this locomotive is on display, so reference pictures are not a problem.

Make weathering wash from dishwasher rinse aid

It worked for me - I hope others try it and report if it works for them.  I would have used artists' wetting agent, I only had rinse aid on hand.

In brief, I made a 0.02% thinning solution of dishwasher rinse aid in tap water

Decoder Buddy Test

Sue is working on growing our own LEDs on Decoder Buddys.  It seems to be working.  I don’t think they will taste as good as her tomatoes....

EMD 48" Radiator Fan Drawings/Pictures

Reminder: The following discusses 1/29
..

I'm in the process of super detailing a USA Trains GP30. Well, not very fast as I've now been working on and off for over 5 years. Now that I'm back trying to push this off the work bench, I'm trying to find more prototype information.

Shot in the dark. I need some detail photos or drawings of EMD of 48" fans, particularly the flared fans so I can replace the factory crap ones.

Worse case, I can use Cannon & Co fans, but would rather start with drawings or decent photos to create a CAD model for 3D printing.

Brass Climax Sound Conversion

I've installed sound decoders in something more than 25 brass steam locomotives.  In most cases, this also involved installing a can motor and frequently replacing the gearbox in some of the older locomotives.  So I've been around the block a time or two.

I've been asked to do a DCC/Sound conversion for a relatively small PFM Climax locomotive.  This appears to be quite a challenge. I have not yet started the project, and would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions (other than "don't do it!") on the following key steps in the process:
