Dissimilar Consists

Is it common for the real thing to consist normally aspirated diesels with turbocharged diesels?

I expect that these days the issue does not come up much. Maybe with smaller railroads with a mix of power or in yard work for the majors, but I am working on speed matching my locomotives and tried some turbo/non-turbo combos. It made me wonder if this was easy for the prototype or if special arrangements or settings had to be made with the engines given the possible horsepower spread.

Motor Tool Bits

A post asking about motor tools got me thinking.  It has been a while since i looked into bits for my motor tool.  I dont use my motor tools as much as probably i should.   So i was wondering if perhaps there are bits that i dont think about of know about or uses i don't take advantage of?

So what are the best bits you have for your motor tool and what do you use them for?

Emergency Strobe Light

Im attempting to model a set of Burlington Northern F units, and from the prototype pictures, there is a strobe beacon attached to the cab roof. Can anyone point me in the direction of a detail parts manufacturer who offers this item?

Thank you for your help.

First track laid

Got some tracks glued down in Lynn Junction.  Test car sees them as smooth.  Need to drop feeders now to see if an engine will move.   Peco turnouts, mix of Peco and Atlas flex track.   Two inches of pink foam on a slightly padded 34" HCD.

Dremel Question (Corded, not Cordless)

Hi,

I have a question about two Dremel tools, both corded...  Listed in the latest Micro Mark catalog are two choices:

- The Micro Rotary tool (20 watts, 6 oz weight)

- The Mini Rotary Tool (35 watts, 8 oz weight)

Does anyone have either of these tools, and if so, can you offer an opinion?

Atlas N scale Code 55 five #5 turnouts

Purchased some Atlas C55 N scale #5 turnouts.

Noticed the point rails look rough, anybody else have any issues with the latest run?

I did a rolling test with some freight cars to see if they derail, maybe they will be fine.

Please do not reply with how I need to build my own turnouts, please do not reply this is why I should be in G scale. Please do not reply switch to Kato uni track.
