Micro Engineering turnouts
I am gathering supplies to start on my first layout and was wanting to use ME track, as it looks much better IMO than any of the others I've seen. However, I was having a hard time finding code 83 #6 RH so I did a Google search and came across an old thread from the forum here talking about QC issues with them.
Has anyone bought any turnouts from them recently and can tell me if they have sorted those issues out? I would appreciate any current insight that is available. Thanks!

AMB GM&O caboose kit assembly
A friend asked if I would assemble an American Model Builders Gulf, Mobile, & Ohio (GM&O) caboose kit for them. This blog will show the process.
What does it take to get a model produced in outside of brass?
Edit: I am not asking about the cost of producing a model, nor am I asking what the final cost would be.
Hello all,
Im looking for input from any manufacturer, or someone with knowledge in the model railroad industry.

SMA34 More Power to SMA20 Decoders with Tips and Additions
This article describes some simple changes for the SMA20 Mobile/Accessory/Multifunction 17 Channel Configurable DCC Decoders, which can increase the power provided with the on-board circuitry to deliver two Amps from the DCC bus to the decoder. A new decoder board is offered, as well as a couple of interface tips for the modeler.
Installing a turnout (prototype @ La Plata MO)
I have to admit, this was 20 minutes of fascinating movement. BNSF track gangs were repositioning a prebuilt turnout from near the Amtrak station further west along the sub. How they did it is interesting, as I've never seen this before. Enjoy the choreography of multiple Cat 33X hydraulic excavators (one with a nifty trick up its sleeves)

tsunami version 1
Ok so I just put a tsunami v1 in a rsd 12 the other day and an nce dasr in another rsd 12. I am trying to speed match the 2 but the tsunami even though having a 0 start voltage, a max voltage of 10 and a mid range of 1 is still light years faster than my dasr equipped one. Nothing changes how it crawls(it does not really crawl at all starts off at like 5 mph). How do I change this so it crawls slower and can get it to match with the rest of my fleet of locos. Or is this doomed to be the one oddball. The tsunami 2 i have matched everything nce dasr equipped pret
Mehano smoke genertor
I purchased a Mehano C&O Chesapeake Ohio 4-6-2 George Washington Steam Locomotive #490 9403. My understanding is that it smoked. I cannot seem to get it to do that. I have put smoke fluid in the smoke stack but it appears to do nothing. Is this model "smokable"? or is there a secret way to fill it with smoke fluid. Thanks in advance!
RADIO CONTROL FOR N SCALE
RC or Radio Controlled, It will eliminate track cleaning, save lots of wiring problems but no one seems to know anything about it. I understand all about the batteries and controllers from model airplanes and drones. You don't need dozens of batteries for dozens of locos, they charge relatively quickly or you can have a few ready to place in the loco if it goes down. Why is this a secret? Can anyone fill me in on the process of converting?
Car weight: RP20.1 vs. NEM302
I've just bought "Make it run like a Dream: Rolling Stock". It's an excellent book and a "must have". I model Danish railways in the late 1960s (the very end of a very long steam-to-diesel transition period for the state railways), so not everything is relevant to my situation but there is more than sufficient meat to make the book a very good purchase.
The last chapter in the book on car weight is thought provoking, and as Joe Fugate suggested, likely to cause some controversy. So, let me add a footnote to the controversy.
A Mid-Century Modern Retail Store
For several months I've been working on a small-town downtown scene with two streets and seven structures. Six of the seven buildings are from Design Preservation Models kits and wall panels which I have had for many years, spruced-up with new details, interiors, and lighting. For the seventh building, I wanted to do something different than the standard transition-era town, yet still correct for my layout era of 1954-1956.
