Scenery details you might not of though of

Hello,

Thought I’d share a few details for your model railroads that some of you might not be aware of.

N Scale Code 55 turnouts

Hello,

I am in the process of starting a smallish N scale layout. I decided to go with Atlas Code 55 flex track and turnouts, but I have been waiting for 2 months and I only have a single turnout. I guess COVID impacted the production or supply chain for these? Does anyone have any insight on when these turnouts may be available? I asked Atlas via the Contact Us form on their website, but got no response so far.

Not sure at this point if I should just wait it out or if I should consider switching the ME turnouts.

Athearn DCC Ready - Lighting Wiring Inquiry

Hi - I have two DCC questions (Both pretty much the same).  Note I am using a plug-in SoundTraxx decoder for both applications.

bonding rail to wood ties

I recently read on one of the post that the old way to bond rail to wooden ties was with Pliobond. As I have just finished building 6 turnout using Fast Track jig, I was planning on using Pliobond.  Is there a better product?

thanks...Ken

Benchwork done - now for lighting and backdrops

Now that I have the benchwork in and Homasote subroadbed down work has to move to the next couple of items before track laying can begin in earnest. These are getting the high rear and low-profile foreground backdrops in - the latter to hide the surround staging tracks that wrap around the rear of the benchwork. Per the plan below you can see the high-backdrops noted as the thick, solid blue line behind the staging tracks.

Rio Grande Font

I'm trying to model the Rio Grande Scenic RR that operates out of Alamosa, Colorado. I'd like to print my own N-scale decals, but i need to find the font used. The passenger cars seem pretty easy, but the locos have the classic Rio Grande in a gold color. Any suggestions?

Assembling an Athearn All-Weather Window

Is there a trick to assembling the Athearn all-weather windows?  It looks easy enough, just two pieces - the housing and clear plastic for the windows.  How hard can that be?  But for the life of me I can't get the clear plastic to fit inside of the housing, and just end up shattering it while trying for a press-fit.  Multiple times.  I've got to be missing something obvious.
