Modeling my childhood home - Part 2: Switching to traditional scratch built techniques
I got to thinking that if I was going to build many structures then the laser route was the way to go; however, I only plan on building this one structure so.....
I’ve decided to just scratch build it using pre-made brick sheets and styrene.
more to come...
G&D Sorethroat Branchline Mk3, construction has started
Hello,
I did some thinking about the trackplan and I wasn't happy with it. In 1992 September Issue of Modelrailroader, there was a trackplan for a proposed layout in a small room called Spokane, Pasco & Wallace. Since I saw these trackplan in the 90s I tried to plan a layout based on these plan. Over the years these plan was stored in the backs of my brain, but during the last weeks it reemerged.
Modern HO Scale Indiana Harbor Belt/NS Layout
Hi all, here’s my HO Scale trackplan I’ve recently started building.
It is 10’x12’ with 22” minimum radius curves and based on the Indiana Harbor Belt in Chicago. I’m trying to work out the staging yard/operations to maximize realistic operations as best I can.
Shapeways smooth fine plastic detail removal
I believe have found the correct size Shapeways reefer unit. The problem is the rear door latches and details need to be removed. I will use a decal from a photo to replace the details of the door. Can the printed 3d latch details be removed easily, like box car details?

IC # 3715 at the Monticello Railway Museum railroad
A close friend has done many steam locomotive modifications for my Illinois Central themed, museum railroad.
Attached are some photos of the latest locomotive which started life as a Bachmann 2-6-0 but now is IC, #3715.
Enjoy,
Barry

What to do before repainting a locomotive?
I decided that the lone SW9 on my freelance railroad, the Spring City & Northern (SPRG), was recently sold to a paper mill. Instead of stripping the paint right away, I snapped a few photos and came up with the following story. Enjoy,
Greg

WIP -CN Intermodal Yard
Temporarily set the Intermodal scene on my layout -Trenton Subdivision in N Scale and placed much of the elements to ensure that everything will fit and gauge locations for light poles. The lights are non-working as I won’t be operating the layout in the dark. The telephone poles in the foreground will be substituted for lights.
Complex Junction Wiring using Peco Unifrog
Hello,
I'm tight on staging space and came up with a unique HO-scale junction design using Peco track. Please see attached rough draft plan. Going north to south, we have two 3-way switches connected by a 24-deg crossing and two double-slip switches which have additional switches attached at the ends.
Why so complex? In about 2 ft 6 in, we go from two to 10 tracks.
