My Misti Mountain - a mole hill?

I was talking to Michael Rose the other day (about model railroading of course) and he got me thinking about my Misti Mountain on my layout and how it is out of scale; that is, it's not really a mountain.  You see, it's only 27 inches high.  If you do the math of 27" where 1" equals 87" in HO you get 27 x 87 = 2,349 inches and if you divide that by 12 you get 195.75 feet which is hardly a mountain or as Michael said it's more of a mole hill.

Building your Own Turntable

I've been making some repairs to my 'estate acquired' Diamond Scale turntable, and in doing so I needed to build a whole new turntable pit. I will be covering that shortly, or in another subject thread.

But in the meantime I have realized a mistake I made long ago when I was building my first turntable for my Central Midland layout, so I thought I would start this subject thread out with that bit of knowledge that I think MANY of us first assume when we look at such a project.

Connecting Drive Shaft to Turntable Bridge

Tearing out my old layout.

So, instead of thinking about my old layout and the problems its' age causes, I've decided that because of Covid 19 and the uncertainty this is causing, I'm going to get out my drafting table and see if I can come up with a good layout design for a new Narrow Gauge layout.  The only thing I know for certain, is it would be built one module at a time.  This would allow easy disassembly when the need arise.  Because I have been interested in the Rio Grande Southern for years, this is one possible scenario I might build and another would be a completel

Anyone used Blue Ridge Fibreboard?

Has anyone used Blue Ridge Fibreboard?  (https://www.blueridgefiberboard.com/premium-insulating-sheathing-energy-saving-r-values/)  I saw it at Menards right across from Homasote.  It seems like a similar product, but a bit lighter and quite a bit cheaper.  Was curious if it would hold paint and how it would handle getting wet.

Hello. On the picture below you can see different configurations of rail yards. All configurations, except first one, provides sidings of almost the same lengths.
