Speed painting a backdrop

Because of my career, I've always had limited time for modeling.  I have tended to work very fast and try to get goals done in a few hours.  Ironically, now that I am retired, I still seem unable to slow down.  I decided to paint the backdrop and get it all done as soon as possible.  There is about 60 feet of 18 inch high backdrop to be painted so I got all my acrylic paints together and went at it with a vengeance.  I finished it in about 20 hours of work over about 4 days.

USRA locomotives wheel diameter

I'm in the way to kit build some N scale locomotives.

I own the steam Encyclopedia but sorry it's somewhere in a box in my garage because of my move in Quebec;  with around 100 box to search from, I forget it for now.

My question is the following;

USRA designed standard steam locomotives for all the railroad use

I need to know the standard  diameter of the locomotives wheel (no truck) of the USRA design

- For USRA Pacific

- For USRA Heavy and light Mikado

Would you pay someone to do something you hate

I have a dead serious but absolutely off the wall question: would you pay someone to do part of the hobby that you absolutely hate and don’t care to ever get better at? I’ve hit a huge stumbling block with track laying, I absolutely despise it, which is a monumental problem in our hobby. I’ve survived a bunch of b.s. that none of you want to hear about, you’d think track laying would be small potatoes to me but I can’t/won’t do it.

Building lights

Does anyone else use these leds to light their buildings? I find them fantastic using them in strips of three and singular ones.

Finding a sound decoder that actually sounds like the sort of engine for which it is intended?

Is there a way to identify a DCC sound decoder when seeking a particular sound?    For example, I want to put a DCC decoder into an O-Scale NYC Hudson.  I'd like to choose a model whose sound track is as close as possible to a real New York Central J-3a.

Thanks,

Bill

Narrow Gauge Degrees of Curvature

I'm in the design stages of track plans for either an Sn3; or, On30 layout.  I plan to lay all track, for whichever scale I decide to go with.  The NMRA gives some information on track radius, although the information given is for 4 feet 8 and 1/2 inch standard gauge.  NMRA RP-11, in their Track Dimension Table on page three, Gives some Degrees of Curvature for curves for all scales.  I'm interested in designing a layout that could be used for either On30; or, Sn3.  I think that a 30 inch radius might work for either scale.  In O scale a 30 inch ra

Scratch building the Low Rent Convenience Store

The plan was to put this in West Sacramento scene at the club but across the tracks a new project creates progress and a road. This may end up on ebay in the near future.

Time at (P&WV) N&W Clairton Yard

The P&WV(N&W) Clairton Yard interchanges with The Union Railroad. The Belt Local with services the yard twice a day is here in the morning to do some switching. As the Belt Local enters the yard the Union Railroad with Crew #53 is coming down the hill on the Mifflin Branch to Mifflin Junction. After doing there switching the Belt local has some foreign road power on the head end .

Touring the "Air Line" branch of the Valley Line

I forgot to include the "Air Line" section in my layout tour video from a few weeks ago, so here it is (and using a gimbal for the first time . . .). Constructive criticism, tips, suggestions, and other feedback always welcome, so lemme know what you think!
