Can someone help me identify vintage...and likely required source voltage. I'm thinking it's 17-24V   AC, but applied that with no response. Likely DOA but if any troubleshooting suggestions, would appreciate. Manually, One set of wheels turns freely (with resistance). The other turns, then locks up.

appreciate the review/input. Thx!

Help identifying On30 Hopper?

Hello all,

Please see pics. Looking fr some help identifying the "type" of freight car. I think it's a Hopper, though have found nothing in Google images that match that center ridge running down length of car. Besides name would you als be able to advise what typical content it was designed for? Sand maybe?

Appreciate your input

Narrow gauge steam, tender...how to test / troubleshoot

Hello all,

Please See pics. Received this from my dad. It appears that it uses tender for power circuit, though I can't get it to run. I've connected variable 24VDC (+ and -) to various points with no results so may in fact be DOA. However, was wondering if any out there could suggest a couple of connection points to know for sure. I'm getting some buzzing contacting around the tender trucks....but that's it.

Appreciate the input!!

A new look for Humbird

I tend to bounce form project to project until one is finished. So, I work on the all of the layout, a little here, a little there. One of the areas I have been working on is the village of Humbird. I have been redoing the streets and made one part of the street a construction area.

Walthers E8A-A George Washington set

I'm  curious what others think of the Walthers C&O GW set. I couldn't tell whether the set is two powered units or one powered and one dummy unit. I was looking at the set at trainworld: https://www.trainworld.com/manufacturers/walthers-ho-n/walthers-920-42361-emd-e8a-a-set-loksound-select-dcc-sound-c-o-4018-4027/

Superb Soundtraxx service

Leaving both headlights on for switching is prototypical.  Engineers don't turn headligts on and off with each change of directions.  Soundtraxx customer service answered  my email on this topic within an hour !

George Bogatiuk described exactly what to do clearly and briefly.  Part of the instructions were to set both CV 57 and 58 to 255 to enable all the lights in both directions.  Simple ! There's also a four minute video demysitifying indexed CV's.

My stay-at-home project

This blog entry was submitted to the 'Aus Freizeit wird Freuzeit – Deine Hobbies 2020' initiative of the modell-hobby-spiel fair, which had to be cancelled this year because of COVID-19.

Control Your Model Railroad with a Slide of Your Finger!

A while back, I came across this video on YouTube:

Then it hit me. Why not use the same thing to control other stuff?!
