Leaving both headlights on for switching is prototypical.  Engineers don't turn headligts on and off with each change of directions.  Soundtraxx customer service answered  my email on this topic within an hour !

George Bogatiuk described exactly what to do clearly and briefly.  Part of the instructions were to set both CV 57 and 58 to 255 to enable all the lights in both directions.  Simple ! There's also a four minute video demysitifying indexed CV's.

 

 

 

 

In January I posted my comment   non-directional headlights on the MRH blog.  It seems that a Windows computer is important for changing ESU Loksound CV's .  This is computer convenience for some but anathema for me.  

Tony's Trains also provided excellent service swapping decoders.

Great support

Soundtraxx offers fantastic support and service. Occasionally I will email a question and generally within a couple of minutes I have an answer. Can’t say enough about the great support. Josh and George are always very quick to get back to you. I had to return a decoder for service and had it back in a week. That’s why I have over 30 Soundtraxx decoder equipped engines. Great products.
